To clarify things, we did offer Jesse a scholarship. We just didn't go after him very hard with the push to sign 30 players in the 2018 class. That was clearly a mistake in judgment. I strongly suspect our staff did not expect him to commit so early, and thought they would be able to make a hard push after 2018 signing day. Too late. Frankly, I don't get why he did not wait longer, especially considering what huge Clemson fans he and his entire family were. Now the Tigers have offered, and he will have to de-commit from VT if he decides he wants to go there. Probably won't happen.
