With 2 high school state championship games on campus today, hopefully the coaches did a little recruiting. A junior RB from Hopewell is being recruited by the big schools, including Alabama .

I would guess one is Javion Lofton. He's retweeting a lot of Liberty stuff and announcing his commitment on the 18th.

Big TE with hands. Only offer was UNA but with his size and speed I think this might be an underrated pick up especially for Freeze's style of offense.

JCgridiron.com rates him as the #1 juco TE in the country. He has really good size and his film is impressive. I trust the coaching staff.

Went back and rewatched the film. Looks ok but i see bigger needs and we still have huntley barrett jackson yost overton. Seems like a ton no more than we used TE. Marshall seemed like he could do both. I dont see this kid blocking much in the run game.

I just see bigger needs at lb and ol. I even see outside wr aa a bigger need (lofton). Once you review depth chart its talented but young and inexperienced. Also a huge merritt fan. I love his tape and see him as a potential dominant 3 down dt.

His style reminds me of a Zach Ertz. Matchup nightmare for LBs. I wouldn't be surprised if one of Yost/Barrett transfers, they're buried on the depth chart behind Huntley and Jackson and then you have Overton....


I think Lofton is the other commit, leaving one spot open. I'm hopeful for Merritt and maybe a couple OL grad transfers.

We did flex foutz out a lot with success and this kid is def faster and better hands than foutz. Guess i look for both.

If its hobbs and lofton that leaves 2 spots between stephens, doss, wyatt and merritt. Hard for me to pick 2 there. I think merritt is best player but maybe not biggest need.

Found this about transfers:

"In NCAA parlance, an initial counter is a new scholarship player at a school. In football, a school can take up to 25 initial counters each academic year as long as it doesn’t go over the 85-scholarship maximum.A scholarship player signed out of high school counts as an initial. So does a junior college transfer. And so do transfers from four-year schools—be they undergraduates or graduate students."

So, when we take a grad transfer or undergrad transfer it counts towards our 25 schollie limit. Unless, there are guys who have already let HCHF know they will be transferring.

Looks like both him and Tim Coutras will greyshirt. This is something I know a lot of SEC schools and most P5's do where they will bring a few extra in that recruiting class realizing there may be some who transfer out or decide not to come back for their senior year(we don't have that problem yet). This allows the kids to still be a part of that class just not on scholarship yet.
