I hope your right oldflame. However all ive heard is that we were only taking 1 qb. Houdini is a pure athlete. I have also seen enough of yearick to see that hes not a d1 qb. Great fit for the school but qb is another position we need depth behind. Right now theres nothing behind buckshot and cunningham.

Robinson is committed. Carter would be signed as an ATH, which would not preclude his eventually being a QB.

Both are phenomenal athletes based on highlight reels who play QB. HS coaches typically put their best athlete at QB and work from there so it is no surprise these kids play the same position (see Scruggs). Both can come and contribute in significant ways at the same time.

So here we are, the LAST weekend of official visits before signing day and all has been quiet on the recruiting front via social media this week.

I know we are all awaiting Elijah and Jacquez's decisions, which will come on Signing Day. But, do we know of any last minute official visits for this weekend?

Also, where do you guys think Elijah and Jacquez will play next year?

I am going to be a homer and say they're both in the Red and Blue this fall. It will be the biggest stage with the biggest competition. These guys will be on the roster when we play 4 ACC games in a season. Neither ODU nor JMU can come close to that schedule.

I see that ODU is pushing hard to get Lala since the is near for signing day. I agree with you, but some strange reason i feel like Lala might sign with JMU based on the FCS powerhouse status. Yes, it is not even close to FBS, but prospects make some strange decisions. I hope I'm wrong though because everyone in hill city is rooting for him because he is a local boy. I hope he stays here and do some damage during his years in college.

So, have Davis and Carter actually said they will not announce their decisions til signing day? That's fairly rare for non blue-chippers, and is not something we have dealt with from a recruit in my memory. The only thing I can surmise is that both have been shown just enough interest from G5 schools (probably VT for Davis) to want to hold out hoping for a last minute offer. That's normally a risky ploy, but I suspect both have been assured that we are holding a schollie for them.

Noel Iwuchukwu. Apparently Kyle DeArmon tweeted that all 5 who visited last weekend have committed, which would include him.

What wall? The one where we are the only school he has visited? Looks like he is hoping a more prestigous program will swoop in and offer him at the 11th hour, and I may not like that, but it's his call. Aside from that, it's LU or UMass, and he didn't bother visiting UMass.

That confirms my calculations that if we take the 6 verbals we have since early signing plus the 2 JUCO DEs who seem to be on board although there have been no official announcements, we have 3 scholarships left to reach the stated goal of 30. That's one each for Davis, Carter and an O-Lineman to replace Weaver.

I think we’ll land Carter (which I think will be the prized recruit of the class) but lose out on Davis to ODU and Weaver to FAU.

I don’t know who’s going to get the last two scholarships.

Hope you are wrong on Davis. It really looks like a push to me right now. Weaver is obviously gone and almost certainly to FAU. With the options Carter has, you have to wonder where else he would go. Waiting til the last second tells me he would probably rather stay closer to home and is hoping he may land with a Florida school as a fallback.

I think we may have a fallback at RB if Davis goes elsewhere. Looks to me like Ballard left himself with Army as his best option while hoping for an offer from Memphis, and that service academy education comes with a pretty stiff tradeoff. He could be very tempted if we jumped back in.

No fallback needed for Carter. He is a special athlete, but except possibly for PR, he is not a player who would meet any immediate need.

Unfortunately, the JUCO OL who is probably our best fallback for Weaver just did a visit...... at FAU.

Nobody seems to know why he didn't sign in Dec., but Scruggs is a rock solid commit and is expected to sign tomorrow. He will be playing DB for us.

This is pure speculation, but Gill was retained because he was seen as a decent recruiter, and this class was important because of early signing period, and total number of athletes we needed to get us to the full FBS roster size.

In my opinion this class gets a B-. Feels like a few big key pieces fell through. We did pick up some good OL talent and the 3 star RB from Tennessee could be a huge get. But the whiffs on Lynum, Weaver, Davis and a few others makes it feel like Gill did not come through any better than a new coach may have been able to.
