It’s not up to date yet. I suspect it’ll rise a little. Of note, coastal is ranked higher as of now but again they’re missing about 9 signees.

I am excited about this class but lets try not to over-hype this. There are 125 teams in FBS. While this is better than any of our FCS classes it is not overly strong compared to the vast majority of FBS schools and in proportion to the $ we spend compared to other low FBS schools we are probably still underperforming.
That said, this is year 1. Good start.

I know that 247 has us with only 9 commitments thus far. That has us at 120 in the recruiting rankings. If you add in the others who are not counted but have signed we are at 110. Now, I doubt seriously that Sean Queen and JT Wood would be anything but 2 stars in 247 as their rivals rating is a 2 star. Neither one of them are in the 247 system for whatever reason.

Our recruiting class is more or less near 105 to 100. That my friends is pretty good with still a month and a half left in the recruiting season.

Weaver and harris are big pieces. Class takes a hit without these 2. You could see this coming with weaver but not harris who has committed since june. Both could be signing tomorrow but thats unusual.

Still lots of work to do to get where we need to be and the job gets harder if we cant secure these 2

Coach Gill's 10-minute video interview about his 2018 recruiting class:

https://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cf ... 2&teamID=9

Interview mentioned no QBs and no players signed from Texas.

So we have 14 signed high schoolers, 3 commits who didnt sign, 8 open slots left. Who is still available on our board? Thoughts on needs still to fill? I would like to see a couple more DB's or Athletes that could play DB. Also, 1 more RB.

Any more Juco prospects still in the running?

Offensively

QB- Lyles or Robinson.
RB- Davis, Ballard, West

We'll probably see some new names popping up. More on the defensive side. Need more depth at the LB position.

Dissappointing day. The decision to retain the staff looks worse after today. Losing out on lynum and failing to secure weaver and harris are both trouble spots. BasIcally the staff was kept to retain yost chibueze and lewis and they added schlittler. The rest either have 1 fbs offer or less and were there best offer. The juco class is ok but again for 5 players we beat out eastern michigan alabam state idaho and southeastern louisiana...real impressive.

Tons of work to do before the final signing day. IT can be salvaged but its far from a certainity.

We didn't lose out on Weaver and Harris. They're hard commits who are waiting to sign in Feb. ASOR heard they're rock solid so nothing to worry about.

Losing out on Lynum does suck though.

Hopefully we can land Lyles now to make up for it.

Ballah you know as well as i do you sign if your committed. If not your seeing if something better comes along or else you would sign. If certainly there choice but you know weaver is taking a hard look at fau and now others will come around. Its common knowledge p5 coaches were out telling kids not to sign today because they will “offer” them aftee the period.

Maybe that's the case or maybe they want to celebrate it on the actual National signing day.

Never know how a recruiting class is going to end up. If these ratings were correct, there would be no need to play the games. That being said, not very impressed with this class thus far. Not having a solid QB in the class, is very disappointing. We only have 2 years left with Buckshot. We need someone getting ready for when he leaves. In addition, it doesn't appear that we have addressed our LB corps depth. Deeply troubling to see some of the guys who didn't sign today. Like someone already said, if you are a solid commit, there is no reason to wait until Feb. to sign. There is a significant reason(s) that they didn't sign the NLI today and most of them are not very comforting for us.

5 - 3 star recruits is not a bad first recruiting class and we still have THE NATIONAL SIGNING DAY. I am still EXTREMELY confident in this staff to put together some nice finishing touches on this class. If I remember correctly, Gill and company have been known to bring in some late last minute guys aka DJ Stubbs, DJ Abnar and Darrin Peterson just to name a few.

And for the record, If our boys at ASEAOFRED have mentioned they have sources that say no worries on Weaver and Scruggs not signing then I trust their sources.

Also, let us not forget that this early signing period is today, tomorrow and Friday. Harris could sign tomorrow or friday. Or maybe he was out of town like Scruggs. Life does happen.

If a signing period is open and a player who is committed doesn’t sign, it’s an area of concern if only because it’s still possible for that 17-year-old kid to change his mind.
Agreed. But 19 of 22 is not bad. (I am trying to give the staff some credit where it is deserved). That being said, it is still a major disappointment that these three verbals didn't sign and that we didn't get a solid QB prospect. It is a major cause for concern, because like you say, these young kids are still vulnerable and impressionable. I will be surprised if any of them sign, but hope I am wrong.

I remember being fickle when I was 17, but I had goals and an understanding of how to achieve them. Scruggs has been talking the talk. In fact, even given his not signing yet, I still think he is one of the more passionate commits about his commitment to Liberty. I actually believe he would be our key to keeping Davis in town too. Scruggs retweeted two LU signings, called Sean Queen his brother and has LU commit in his profile description. I'm comfortable with Scruggs.

The local news WSET said that LU signed more players (19) on the day than UVa did (18). :clapping

Scruggs could be just a matter of logistics. School is out and he’s not in town.
As mentioned before, there have been several Coaches at the school. But that would be expected if a team just won their 3rd straight State Title.

Scruggs was in town. There's a picture of him in the N&A sitting at the table when Graves signed with NC State.

Picture is in this article

Signing more players doesnt mean they are better which there clearly not. It just means were taking 30 guys. Theres 6 or 7 studs and 3 or 4 that could be. The rest are developmental. I had hoped we would do better with the fbs tag coa the newnpractice facility stadium expansion and schedules out. There are players still on the board but it will be difficult to land 11 in 2 weeks or even 8 if all 3 were to sign.

I would feel much better if harris weaver and west had signed. Lot less holes to plug and 2 of your top 6 committs.

We will see. Atleast then they could have focused on a qb and lb and then depth. Now they have to keep recruiting those guys plus find a qb lbs and probably another d end and secondary depth. Wr is the only position they would appear to be set on unless shorter picks us which i doubt.

Scruggs is holding to see what happens too. You can think whatever you want but it is what is. If your 100 percent committed you sign. Thats the bottom line.
