I think we could consider it a FF stimulus plan. All the guests that only come on here to read and not post will now be forced to sign up in order to get rid of some of the foolishness!

FF stimulus plan huh? Sounds good to me... but does that mean FF will hafta go into debt?

Two things:

1. Yes, ignoring users is possible. It requires upgrading to phpBB 3, which I have been wanting to do with FlameFans for some time now. Unfortunately my addition of the mobile version of the site made that a much more complicated process than it should be. I'm hoping we can get it done this Summer when things reach the "What'd you have for lunch today?" stage of boring.

We could force everyone to register in order to read, but we won't go that route. It just ends up killing traffic to the site. I do, however, purge users who register and don't post after a certain period of time.

"Most ignored poster" award at year's end, maybe?

Someone here, unless they change their pattern dramatically, will never have a post seen or read once this upgrade is made because they will be on everyone's ignore list. It's really annoying to log on and see the same username as the last poster on most of the forums, and you feel like you need to check to see if something has actually been said, but you know it's probably just a waste of time because it's just an emoticon or something silly.

Or we could limit that certain poster to 3 or 5 posts a day.

like someone who has a double quote that has original post, followed by someone else quoting it and replying with just an emoticon, and then someone else just quoting the whole thing and replying with another emoticon.

Better yet, why dont we just get rid of emoticons altogether. What purpose to them is there? None. Plus, super easy fix for El Scorcho, I imagine, at least compared to upgrading the entire site
