Projected Starters:
OLB 32 Ian Childress Sr

MLB 33 Kyle O'Donnell So

MLB 53 Nick Hursky Sr

OLB 51 Patrick Bannon So

Roster:
11 Michael Connolly R-Fr
43 Jamal Giddens Fr
58 Mamadou Balde Jr
45 Derek Lisko Jr
36 James Pelzer So
48 Pierre Tinsley So
95 Chad Brown So
59 Doncel Bolt So

The starters at linebacker are pretty much set with Childress and Bannon on the outside and Hursky and O’Donnell on the inside. Hursky burst on the scene last year and was just terrific in his replacement of Manny Rojas. With his leadership, hopefully, our linebacking corps won’t miss much of a beat even with the losses of Brandon Duke, Stevie Ray Lloyd, and Vince Redd. Bannon showed great promise as a true freshman during his limited time, and must have continued to impress the coaches through the spring for him to earn a starting spot. Childress and O’Donnell have both seen plenty of playing time over the past couple of years and should be ready to go.

Linebacker is one position where we have a decent amount of depth with Connolly, Tinsley, Brown, Lisko and Bolt all with good chances of seeing some playing time there.

Childress, the former Liberty High standout, has progressed more than any player on defense this season, Rocco said. Childress finished with 11 tackles and had an 11-yard sack Saturday against the Phoenix.
“He’s come a long, long way and boy, I’m proud of that young man for the way he played linebacker for us this season,” Rocco said.
