Not for the first couple of days. They go no pads and then shells the first three or four I think.

That's an NCAA requirement for all teams these days. Acclimatization, they call it.

It is a near necessity from a weather standpoint for places like Florida and Texas.

Yes...same as in most states in HS. NCAA also limits the # of 2-a-days they can have in a row. Good stuff from the injury and heat illness prevention standpoint.
