I know we have mentioned him in other threads, but here is a fishwrap confirmation on Asa ....
Fredericksburg Free Lance Star wrote:Chapman to Liberty

Former Orange defensive tackle Asa Chapman is enrolled in Liberty University and will play for the Flames' football team, an athletic department spokesman for the school said yesterday.

Chapman originally signed with Virginia in 2006, but didn't qualify academically to enroll in school.

He then attended Fork Union Military Academy and signed with West Virginia in 2007, but he didn't qualify academically there, either. Chapman was a Free Lance-Star All-Area selection in 2005.

Looks like 4. It doesn't seem that he actually enrolled anywhere else.

if I remember correctly, he was a BIG and highly touted lineman at WVU. I can't remember for the life of me on which side of the ball he played, though.

Literally, I hear he could go down as one of the biggest (size) DL to be here! I hear he's pushing 4 bills and handles it very very well.

I understand he plays some hoops too. TBGBG and manson are always complaining that we need some beef on the squad  , but with his academic history something tells me 2 sports are not in his future.

Wow, I hope he can qualify. He'd be a beast on the D-line. 6'5" 340lbs, WOW!

The profile is a bit dated and he is young, so he may be bigger indeed!

I think he's a bit closer to 400 lbs now, maybe over. I'm sure he'll drop a lil now that he's working out with the team, but he's a big, solid guy. Being from Charlottesville, I saw a lot of him as a Football and Basketball player at Orange Co HS. I'm glad he made his way to LU, hopefully he can get the academic support he needs to keep his grades up.

From Rooster's link:
An All-Regional power forward in basketball and All-State defensive lineman at Orange County (Va.) High School, Chapman, 6-foot-5, 395, committed to Virginia out of high school.

I saw him this morning.....he is huge. I think he is the biggest and will be the biggest LU player to ever put on a football uniform. He does play ball and can dunk. Extremely athletic for his size and this is no doubt a huge (no pun intended) addition to the LU football program.

If he was good enough to sign with UVA and WVU then I have a feeling he'll start. Especially since our D-line is somewhat of a question mark right now.

He'll have to earn any playing time in camp.

I would think that both Asa and Daryl Robinson (the transfer from VA tech) would have serious consideration for starting jobs since the D Line was weak last year. These guys were both 3 star recruits in high school and looked at by many major programs.

Obviously they will have to work hard in the fall and show the staff how good they are, but I believe they will be the best talent we have on the D-line this year and therefore I believe they will start.

I expect Daryl Robertson to start. As far as Asa goes, he won't play unless Rocco knows he is in good shape and more importantly has his grades under control. If he feels that he does, then he would be in competition for a starting spot.

It's hard to fathom not being able to make the grades just to enter WVU where a couple administrators recently resigned for handing out a degree to a person who did not show up for class.
