The Liberty Football program, just may have received a verbal from possibly their #1 rated overall player for the class of 2009, in 6'2 190 pound defensiveback Courtney Bridget Jr. from Baltimore, MD. Bridget is an intruiging, and physical specimen. You rarely see 6 feet and above cornerbacks but to be almot 6'3'' and packing 190 pounds is unhuman. The kid is the real deal. He's been nationally recruited by big programs (Oregon, UCONN, Rutgers, Tennessee, Florida St, Ohio St.,) but Coach Rocco and his staff may have very well reeled one in this time. Bridget talks the talk, and can very well walk the walk as this flashy cornerback has the swagger of Neon Deion himself, and the game changing abilities as well. Bridget wanted to prove his doubters wrong at the Under Armour Combine and that he did. Bridget ran a 4.53 into the wind as he answered questions about his speed, and he once again dominated and showcased his press coverage technique in one on ones. As you all can see this was a huge signing, possibly one of the biggest in Flames history. I just can't wait to see this kid ripping it up in action for the net 3-4 years.
Just this past weekend Bridget and his Dunbar Poets teammates were at West Virginia's University 7 v 7 tournament, where the Poets from Baltimore, MD went and conquered the entire field, going undefeated 11-0, and beating the #22 team in the country Gateway(Pa.) three times. Bridget led the defense with 5 interceptions, splitting time between cornerback, free-saftey. Bridget is known for his cover skills as a cornerback but he looked very polished and incredibly instinctive playing the FS posistion, where he constantly made plays.
