OK, so a quick search for the word "prospect" on the football board turns up only one thread started by manson prior to yesterday -- 7.5 million from Sly, by the way -- and that kid signed with us in February. Now, all of a sudden, he starts three threads in two days and one of them is a known commitment. I think someone may have been scooped here.

("Houston, we have a problem.")

I stand corrected. Lefty started the Demetrius Ward one. So am I wrong, oh charmed one?

That doesn't answer the question. SPIT IT OUT, MAN!!! Is he bringing his bass here or what?

By the way, I like the band but the lead singer really needs to finish puberty.

I don't know. All he can do now is verbal, and we all know those don't mean anything.

You're no fun.

Fortunately, Google is. Seems he's been home-schooled since the 4th grade. There's also this little tidbit:
Fath's sister, Katie, 21, was also a homeschooler. She is studying fashion merchandising at Liberty University.

didn't have much time to look but found very little info on this kid up here- point of interest: he played for #24's arch-rival school.

I believe he made "Star of the week" sometime last season (undated) for 12 tackles in a game.

Quakertown is one of the smaller schools in the class AAAA league up here, but still faces decent competition (As did Greiser's Pennridge HS)

He's listed as a "Player to watch" at TE for the '08-'09 season.

this kid could be a nice surprise, but I'll have to do some digging to find anything more on him

From a Pennsylanian fishwrap previewing Eric's district ...
The Times Herald wrote:The Panthers are also on the comeback trail after a dismal 2007, and hope returnees Tony Latronica (900-yard runner) and QB Ryan Tinknell can find some wins.
Tight end Eric Fath, a Liberty University recruit, is a huge two-way threat.
Methacton has promised a more diverse attack this year, and don't be surprised if Tim Smith gets a lot of touches as both a runner and receiver.

Here is an even better feature on him from PAmedic's next of the woods (I think medic's post-Greiser man crush has been identified) that talks about his homeschooling, band and his future at LU ....

Eric Fath comes from a football family. His father, Larry Fath, played football at Souderton under coach Drew Darrah and his grandfather Dick Fath played at Haddonfield (N.J.) High.

In addition, his mother, then known as Lana Fox, was a standout basketball player at Souderton.

But because he was home schooled, he could not play any sports for his local high school, Quakertown.

But when a law was passed by the Pennsylvania legislature in September, 2005 that students home schooled must be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities of the nearest school, Fath was able to keep the family tradition alive.

“I always wanted to play football,” he says. “Our family used to go to Quakertown games when I was little. I had never played it but when the bill was passed my father called the school within a week.

“We had been praying that something like this would happen.”

Saw the kid at homecoming and he looks the part of an inside 'backer. Here is an update on his senior season ...

Eric Fath takes his job as seriously as he does his football.

Fath was a tight end with senior eligibility this past season for Quakertown and was a key to the Panthers having a massive turnaround in its fortunes.

His efforts were rewarded as on Saturday he was named to the Associated Press Class AAAA all-state second team.

“This is awesome,” he said when informed of the selection late that night. “That's really cool.”
Later in the story it serves up some numbers on Eric this season ...
Fath, who is 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, found out about the selection hours after the list has been published on many newspaper web sites and message boards.

That was because he turned off his cell phone as he worked all day at the Chick-Fil-A in Quakertown as it piled up with messages congratulating him.

“I am very happy for Eric,” said Quakertown coach John Donnelly. “It couldn't have happened to a nicer kid.”

Fath made 30 catches for 643 yards and seven touchdowns for the Panthers. He also was a starter on the defensive line as Quakertown went 9-3 after winning just one game the year before. He had only made a total of 12 catches in the previous two seasons.

Congratulations on the post season awards, Eric.
