Looks like a really good athlete who is going to play defense for us. Of course, it will be nice to have this on paper, but still, good to see Coach Rocco and staff making good use of camp!
Something else to think about is, with his speed and smaller size, would we move him to linebacker? I mean, I am sure coach Gillespie will beef him up and make him a force athletically (more than he is), but maybe with his 4.5 speed he could play standing up?

Line has been an area of weakness for us in the past so having a speedy guy who can play the edges would help us a lot in getting pressure in the backfield.

This kid looks like a force to be reckoned with. This could help beef up our roster especially because we are losing some great talent on "D"

Smoothie is right in what he says. The Phantoms are always in the state title contender discussion (Hampton often is too although they arent as dominant as they were in the 90s) so to pick up somebody from there is great.

Rivals has him as 6'1" but in the article it says 6'3" not sure which one is right. But this was said in the article...
"Liberty has really upgraded their program the last couple years with (Danny) Rocco up there," says Phoebus Head Football Coach Bill Dee. "He went up there for their one-day camp this weekend, his mother and father were with him and he decided to commit."
and
According to Dee, the Flames plan to play Ward at outside linebacker on defense as they were "impressed when they worked him out during linebacker drills."

Daily Press wrote:But the two who really shined Friday were ends Demetrius Ward and DaQuan Romero. Ward, a senior, has committed to Liberty, where he'll make coach Danny Rocco very happy. Romero is a sophomore with major Division I-A potential. He also plays tight end and caught a 6-yard pass from Tajh Boyd for the game's first touchdown.
Ward and Romero may be the best defensive end tandem the Peninsula District has seen since Hampton's Donny Green and Bobby Blizzard in the mid-1990s. Much like this Phoebus team could be as dominant as those Hampton clubs.
The Crabbers mustered a paltry 41 yards of offense, and odds are that's the lowest of coach Mike Smith's 38 seasons as their head coach. Friday was Hampton's worst regular-season loss under Smith -- Heritage beat the Crabbers 41-0 in the 2000 playoffs -- and only the Crabbers' ninth by 20 or more points since his arrival in 1971. Five of those nine have come against Phoebus and Dee.
