Summer Workout Update

There are 65 players in Lynchburg attending 4 day a week strength and conditioning workouts this summer. Attitudes and work ethic are through the roof. Strength tests are showing continuous improvement across the board, as well as foot work (plyometrics, ladders, rope work), and competitive sprinting. The guys go out and play 11 on 11 on their own and are having a blast playing/working together. Leadership is provided from all areas and levels: veterans and young guys, O and D, linemen and backs. Coach Gillespie is excited about how this group attacks his workouts. They test into the next week or so and then have a short break, starting camp on July 31. We have a great deal to get jacked up about with these guys!

This week is a testing week before a little break. It caps the summer lifting program. We have in excess of 60 guys cleaning over 300 lbs. which Coach Gillespie says has to be as good as there is in the nation. Guys who only get 325 would be tops in other programs, but are unsatisfied in ours. Our starting offense (yes this includes QB's, RB's, Rec.) averages around 365 lbs. in the clean.
Tomorrow.... the bench!

Football is fun when you have the edge in "pushing."

Latest from the wt. room.....Tues. night is bench night........New bench record at 550 lbs.,
also new record in the 225 lb. rep - 53 times, beating old record of 47. It was filmed, hopefully SJ could get a hold of the tape.
We have 5 offensive linemen that bench over 400 lbs.

I didn't realize there was a station doing news in Mansfield. That is cool. Having the video of our games was great and even DrDoctorMD's pic worked its way in there. Outstanding.
Thanks for sharing, madmat.
