I just received this email from the Alumni office:
Make plans to attend Homecoming 2008 on Saturday, Oct. 25. Join current LU students, faculty, staff, and fellow alumni for an exciting weekend of food, fellowship and football.
Reconnect with friends and former classmates by attending the private Homecoming Reception on Saturday in the Schilling Center, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Enjoy great food and fellowship as you remember your years at LU.
After the Homecoming reception, join us for the Homecoming Parade and the 2008 Homecoming football game against Charleston Southern at 3:30 p.m. You won’t want to miss this exciting event!
Advance registration is required this year to attend the Homecoming reception and to receive the alumni discount on football game tickets ($5 for adults, $3 for youth ages 3-18, and free admission for children age 2 and under). Those who register will receive Homecoming wristbands to wear that day.
Please note:
There will not be on-site registration for alumni on Saturday, Oct. 25 – Registration is required prior to Homecoming this year. Walk-ins will not be allowed in receptions.
Tailgating will take place prior to the game.
To register for Homecoming 2008, visit www.lualumni.com or call (800) 628-7973.
Be sure to tell your LU alumni friends to meet you in Lynchburg for Homecoming 2008. We look forward to an exciting weekend and hope to see you there!

Wrist bands got in the game free last year. If they want a record, they'll let us in.

So the free meal is head to head with tailgating. That seems odd.
I hadn't received the email so I must have slipped between the cracks on the list.
I just went online and registered even though there really wasn't much information.
Here is what we know thus far (home events in yellow):
Friday, October 24th:
7:00 pm ....................... Volleyball vs. Coastal Carolina
7:00 pm ....................... Mens Soccer @ Longwood
TBA .............................. Mens Hockey Division vs. Stony Brook
Saturday, October 25th:
Early am - 3:30 pm ....... FlameFans Tailgate
11:30 am - 1:30 pm ..... Alumni Reception in North Campus
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm ....... Homecoming Parade
2:00 pm ........................ Womens Soccer @ Winthrop
3:30 pm ........................ Charleston Southern football game
TBA ............................... Volleyball vs. Charleston Southern
TBA ............................... Mens Hockey Division vs. Stony Brook
Obviously there will be some hoops of some kind and I would assume there is a Flames Club Luncheon on Friday. Anything else jumping out?

you Still think that they actually count correctly? Well Maybe for football they try to guess-tamate closer, but really?

I got a phone call from someone at LU to register me and my wife. Of course, they didn't talk about having to pay to get into the game.
I'll go anyway -- what's homecoming without the football game, after all. And if they're serving the same stuff as last year, I'd rather tailgate than eat their free dinner.

Heard there may be a Baseball alumni golf tournament, but nothing official.

Seriously, that meal was weak. It was similar to what I would dread as a student when there would be a forced "cook out". Oh great, hot dogs and charred burgers.

They should charge to get in. Give me a break, what's $5? We've proven over the past 2 years we will get 12,000+ regardless of the alumni who would only come to homecoming if it's free.

Only at LU will the Alumni and students complain that they have to actually pay to get into a game.

I think you guys might want to readjust your panties. Nobody was complaining. Just a statement of last year vs this year. But I will say, I doubt we'll wind up paying to get in, in the end.

Don't count on that. I'd have my money ready.

I was talking to someone in by far the most famous LU band of all time and they were trying to come up with a reunion for LU although I'm not sure one of them is down with it

It doesn't take a genius to figure out who would be the hold out. Although he seems to be harboring less cynicism these days than jst a year or two ago.
Even if it were the original two members it could be fun.

Maybe he's waiting until the Jenny Craig kicks in.

You know whats funny...its not him! I even told him that he's looked at as "the one that would" but he's the strong force behind it...it's another who's stayed with the same fan group that is afraid of the backlash if he was to join his two buddies that have switched back and forth
The one we all doubt is probably going to be the only one here for homecoming from the group...interesting i know...but true

So Kevin's cool with it but Toby's not? Or is Mike not ok with it? I'm confused.
By the way, that'd be a way to break every single possible attendance record we'd ever had before. Put that concert on the field after the game and you bring in 20,000 that day.

regardless of who it is holding out I just don't see it ever happening...a lot of a time has passed and everytime there is talk about a reunion of some kind there is one member that isn't down with it...for whatever reason...

Toby doesnt want to...Mike and Kevin have committed to doing it
