I have to admit that these seem rather odd selections. Two Big South teams ranked in the top 25? I guess at least somebody is taking notice of of the league's improvement. Here is how Lindy's sized up the Big South:
BIG SOUTH

OFF POY: Tim Maypray, RB, VMI
DEF POY: Mario Brown, LB, Gardner-Webb

1. Liberty

2. Coastal Carolina
3. Gardner-Webb
4. Charleston Southern
5. VMI
6. Stony Brook
7. Presbyterian
Maypray? I mean he was a nice player in Reid's gadget run offense but come on. And both SB & PC will likely be better than CSU or VMI IMHO.

How official is this? Does BJ vote for this poll?

Top 20 in preseason sounds a lot better than "others receiving votes".

Seriously though, I wouldn't put this ahead of AGS much, if at all.

Wasn't this the one we were preseason top 25 last year?

Lindy's likes to take long shots on sleepers. They've always done that.

Maypray wasn't -- and isn't -- even the best player on his team, let alone the conference. Without Abegesah, those guys would have been --be-- in far worse shape than they were -- are.

I expect CSU to bounce back a little this year. Their offense wasn't up to their standards last year and they've addressed that. Unfortunately, their defense is going to be horrible. I don't expect PC to make much progress in the conference this year since they've had so much turnover and they won't sneak up on anyone this time around. Early prognostication says:

1. Liberty
2. Coastal
3. G-Webb
4. Stony Brook
5. CSU
6. PC
7. VMI
