1 Danny Broggin

2 Mike Connoly

3 Mike Connoly vs. Ian Childress

4 DBs, Kent and Pat are covering really well, and we have two cerebral safeties.

5 O-Line- We have talent but we need the summer and fall practices to get these guys gelling with each other.

Any one else have an opinion?

I don’t get it. Are we supposed to base this off what we see at the spring game, or what we expect to be evident during the spring game?

I guess thats the last thread I will start while in CMIS class. Several Errors occurred, but now (with the help of several fine human beings) they are fixed.

1. Jon Crawford: He really has shown that he could be a real money receiver in 08 and will get lot of catches and a lot of TDs
2. Kent Hicks: He has really improved even from last year to this year
3. I really agree that Ian Childress vs Mike Connolly will be the biggest battle this year.
4. strength: running game Rashad will go for 1000 maybe 1500 yards and ZT will be right behind and Wes will have a big year himself
5. I think D-line. really they have not had a lot of production from those guys and they really need to step up and penetrate and help the LBs

I think you pretty much hit it on the head jc (and they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery). My biggest question isnt until the fall and that will be about where Bevins is going to factor in. My speculation puts him as the punter. I will say that itll be interesting to see who they end up going with for kicking between Shipps and Drake because both of those guys have pretty good range from what I have seen of them in practice.

I"M pretty sure shipps won't be doing kickoffs because its kind of hard to tackle without arms

The only running play that i have seen ZT run was an end around. I dont think he will run the ball much this year. Which is a shame.

THe only guy that has actually done any punting from what I have seen this spring is Wes Cheek. I know that Brock can punt (I have not seen him attempt any since he has been here in a game) but my bet is that Drake will take the many of the placekicking and kickoff duties and Bevins will punt. Shipps has shown that he has range out to around 40 yards so I would not be surprised if he did some placekicking in 08 as well. Bevins will probably be the primary punter (since Cheek is the backup TB) and then he will battle with Shipps for the PK job for 09.

One of my biggest issues I noticed when I watched practice Friday and watched the kickers warm up is that the guys tended to struggle between 35 and 40 yards. Drake did hit one from 50 but a lot of his longer range kicks tended to push left. Shipps hit a couple from around 40 as well, but I dont think we want to live off of kicks beyond 35 yards.

If we're giving a scholly to a kicker, I fully expect him to be the starter either punter or kicker or both.

Is it that our D-Line just needs work, or is that our running game is so powerful, we can't stop ourselves.

I think it could be more of the latter. I was watching tonight and we were getting some very good runs and all of the QBs were getting time to throw (now granted they may have been simply showing a look from a team we well be playing this year).

You've been at every Liberty home game since Coach Rocco got here and have been blogging about this year's spring practice yet you can't tell our base offense and defense from another schools? Yea...

Valid point SJ...

Getting to tonight though, KaJuan Lee made a real nice interception right on the sideline in 11 on 11 and Chuck Duffey made a great defend going one on one with Crawford on a deep ball where the ball was tipped once, then Crawford grabbed it then Duffey slapped it out of his hands. For the offense, Bolden got two steps on Calvary on a deep ball and Brock dropped a perfect ball right into his hands. Also Coach Rocco from LCA made an appearance tonight and sat next to GMTM while we were observing from the top of the blue seats tonight. Had some nice observations about the team tonight.

Shipps and Drake do not deserve to be in the same sentence. Shipps is money from 45, and can hit 50. Drake just isnt accurate whatsoever, and if you throw wind in, game over(as in we lose)
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
