Thought since spring break is upon the boys, we might look at some of the numbers tested this past week following the pro day.
I heard we have 10+ guys benching over 400 lbs.
Bryan Mosier 440 lbs. 35 reps @ 225 lbs.
Colin Dugan 445 lbs. 37 reps @ 225 lbs.
Mike Godsil 530 lbs. 47 reps @ 225 lbs.
(2008 NFL Combine record: 37 reps-Jake Long, OT Michigan and Ghaston Ghoul (sp) DE, OSU.)
(NFL record 45 reps in 2000)

Any other test numbers heard of?

Personal record. Last year, 515 and 42 reps. This was done as a team test, under Dr. Gillespie.

Mike holds the all time Liberty bench record and the incline bench at 415 lbs. Joey Sandvig has the hang clean record at 420 lbs. Not sure about squat.

RWEB) March 8, 2005 -- Athletic Edge Sports president Mike Gough is pleased to announce that client Scott Young of the BYU Cougars broke the NFL Combine Record on the bench press at the 2005 NFL Scouting Combine February 24th, 2005 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
PR: BYU Guard Scott Young broke the all-time NFL Combine Bench Press record with a lift of 43 reps with the NFL standard 225 lbs bench press

The NFL lists 51 offensive linemen in two groups at the combine. They just passed along information on 40-yard dashes and bench-presses. Missouri Southern's Allen Barbre ran the fastest 40 (4.84 seconds), followed by Texas Tech's Gabe Hall (4.91) and Wisconsin's Joe Thomas (4.92). For reference, Seattle 2006 fourth-round choice Rob Sims was clocked at 5.25 seconds in the 40 during a campus workout. He became a starter.

Virginia Polytechnic's Brandon Frye was seventh in 40-yard time (5.08) and also cranked out 34 reps in the 225-pound bench press, according to NFL.com. Texas Tech's Manuel Ramirez and Texas' Justin Blalock tied for first with 40 reps. If you have never benched-pressed 225 pounds, you should try it sometime and then envision doing it 40 times. Seems pretty much impossible. Former Seahawks assistant strength coach Bill Gillespie did 60 reps at a 2006 competition, but he was also a career lifter. The unofficial combine record: Justin Ernest of Eastern Kentucky, with 51 in 1999.

I guess it was unofficial. We coach together at the same school. That is why I have these random facts.

Guess that is why our guys are developing the way they are. By the way, I believe that Coach Gillespie is the
NON STEROID world record holder in the bench at 801 lbs.

Interesting that based on the link above, both the fastest 40 and the bench press record were set by athletes I've never heard of from football powerhouse Eastern Kentucky.
