BREAKING NEWS

Maybe this has been broken already, but just got conformation that Jammel Sewell will be transferring to LU and Fitzgerald is close behind. Fitzgerald wanted to go to Richmond, but might not have the grades to get in.
Info on Sewell:

My opinion on Sewell:
I would argue that I'm one of the most loyal posters on this board. I want to stick with Brock, but come on - anytime you get a talent that started in the ACC - he starts. He will be tough to handle in two years.

Info on Fitzgerald:

My opinion on Fitzgerald:
Will be the best Defensive player in LU history. You think Redd was good? This guy would be unstoppable at our level.

could somebody tell me if this is good?

I'm joking by the way. Question: I know this would be a "rumor" right now, but do we know if either has to sit out?

I've been hearing this for some time but I was under the impression that Sewell was now leaning elsewhere. Either way, you can never have too much talent.
And let's wait on the QB discussions until we actually have someone enrolled to compete with Brock.
Both guys would be enrolling this summer is they choose us.

so seriously, it's been like 15 minutes since some of the biggest news it LU football ever and nobody is saying anything. I see you all logged on.

Yes, they both would have to sit one year.
but think about that, if they were immediately elgible - Jenning, Terrell and Sewell in one backfield:) Who would you target?

I had heard rumblings of sewell for the last week or so (I heard it was announced on a news channel somewhere, though have not seen or heard the report). But, I figured since noone was talking about it here it couldn't be true. So, what does "confirmed" mean? That he has actually applied and been accepted, or just leaning our way?

Proto
What kind of sources do you have anyway? I still count it as 100% speculation!
WOW!

How does Sly have sources anyway? Not that I'm calling BS, but you live in Texas for goodness sakes. I like proto's more optimistic sources anyway.

I think this is great for Liberty, Sewell is very athletic and led UVA to a long winning streak including a 48-0 win at Miami. He brings a lot of ACC experience so I see no reason for this hurting us. I understand that this is Brock's senior year but I dont think Jameel would have come here to only play for one year. If he wanted to do that he could have transferred to a I-A school. If Fitzgerald comes with him this is going to be incredible for LU. They both will have two years left and Fitz is a beast on the line would have been first team all ACC defense if he had been at Virginia. We have gotten players from UVA before most of which had there issues at UVA and have all worked out great. Embrace it.

I believe that the only way Sewell comes here is if Fitz says I want him or I don't come. Let's be serious, someone give me one reason to be excited about Sewell. He is a good runner, a very average passer, and not a very good decision maker. I know Brock has been inconsistent and all, but someone give me a clear case to think Sewell would be a big improvement over Brock. (BWT I've worked every home game Sewell has ever played at UVA).

I may have been incorrect to my previous post....I do not know if Jameel would have to sit this year and play the year following. Can I get a link to somewhere confirming the Jameel transfer to LU?

I see your knocks on sewell I to have seen everygame that he has played in since he has been there. I agree he needs to work on his passing game, but his experience I believe takes him over brock. Brock to is very inconsistent in his passing game like you said, but with Jameel, Rashad, and ZT i dont know how that wouldnt be better than Brock and the two stellar athletes in our backfield. The only thing is chemistry, if its not there stay with brock

Fast QBs convert to WRs easily?

Since both of these guys are going to have to sit out for a year (If Im remembering the transfer rule correctly) this will actually have a bigger impact on the way things shake out for 2009 and 2010 because before this came down I was thinking the battle would be between Mike Brown and Spencer Landis for the #1 job. Now with Sewell possibly coming in that definitely is going to shake things up.

Competing against the ACC vs. competing against Big South. As long as he isn't playing down to his competition he should slice up every defense in his path.

You could be right, and I'd hope you are. I've seen this kid look very uneasy in the pocket and make horrible decisions, that's all!

Well when he has to throw over some short corners( i mean the Big South has a lot of 5'10'' DB's) to our much taller WR's things may look a lot easier.

I am big on Jameel....i see your stats but lets look at this here. Tusculum, Shippensburg, St Francis, Presbyterian, VMI, Gardner Webb....those are not the same caliber of VT, Miami, MD, NC State. A lot of the games brock had he was playing against sub par competition. Right now Brock IS THE QB and I understand that but there will be controversy if Jameel can play right away...there will be a competition. The one positive is at least we will have a more enjoyable spring game.

Envy does not suit you. Maybe you PC boys can get a transfer from Wingate or Newberry.
