thanks to our friends on the CCU board for digging this up- interesting find:
obviously some are previous draft selections, but we have several guys projected in the next few years.

Paul Troth was the 75th best QB? I'd like to see the data to support that.
Troth

Came in with a lot of potential...but im am afriad KK ruined any of that. I still can't get over that we had Gus Condon start for two years. Troth never looked comfortable here on or off the field .

I found that intriguing as well, but never saw him play so couldn't make a judgement on it. Maybe only 76 came out that year!

Troth was heavily recruited out of high school. ECU was a decent team when he played there. It's just the fact that we were a running team while he was here. That was the problem. Take a look at Brock Farrel, and you'll wish we had Troth back.

In defense:
Troth was gifted but he was here for only one year, not nearly enough time to adequately learn the offense we ran at the time.
From a purely athletic standpoint, Gus Condon was unbelievable. He was big, he could run and he had a rocket for an arm. I've seen him just demolish people on the basketball court. Unfortunately, at least for us, he made some of the worst on-field decisions I've ever seen. It seemed like toward the end of his career here, he gave up trying to find the open man and threw it to the deep receiver every time whether he was covered or not.
That offense was never intended to be a running offense but 1) we had the horses at RB to do it and 2) a 1st down staple of the offense was the 7-yard hitch route and, inexplicably, both those guys could fling the ball 50 yds in the air to the go route but couldn't hit the hitch guy standing on the sideline. We had a lot of 2nd & 10's.

Good question. Is he back yet from his nasty accident? Hopefully the drug rep hasn't followed him and left him persona non gratta
