Hey I was reading some news on my hometown fishwrap's website and came across this interesting piece.

I know we have some pretty good receivers but you think we might find a place for this guy?

Since he was recruited by a lot of school, id at least say we would need some background on him....

In addition this kid was split wide on the opposite side of Percy Harvin......that is a nasty 1-2 punch in HS.

McDaniel left the Seminoles after the regular season, missing the Music City Bowl against Kentucky. He plans to transfer to a school closer to his family, including son Damon Jr., who was born in October.
ok, that's WHY

now- here's who else is interested:
McDaniel is likely to land at the I-AA level so he doesn’t have to sit out a year at a major program. He said he has heard from Hampton, James Madison and William and Mary.

A decision will come “sometime soon,” McDaniel said. “I need to get in school, probably in the next few weeks.”
anyone know if we've reached out to him? If we had any interest- I would assume so, as recruiting seems to be a strong suit for us.

My understanding is that Liberty had no interest due to some questionable character issues. Read the whole article and see what even his WR coach had to say. I know there was an inquiry on Liberty's part and they decided not to pursue it.

I went to as many Landstown games as possible when these two were there. It was nothing short of incredible.
That being said, once these guys stepped off of the field, I wouldn't go anywhere near them.

Needless to say in this place where most of us live called the "real world" looking at the top 25 or 50 prospects in the nation most have "character issuses" if you ask certain people. Most are difficult if not impossible to relate to by the majority I once had a kid describe to me how he had to pay his electricity at home so that they could keep running the stove to heat the house yes he was a great RB but did these coaches care that he had 3 siblings at home NO. McDaniel is an exceptional athlete he would start here immediatly at WR.That being said when are people gonna actually gonna step up and give these young men another chance and actually become involved in their lives other than well he is fast and can catch a football but other than that I wouldnt go near him. Ever thought about inviting him to church? That being said when is Liberty really going to be able to compete with the likes of Appalachian State...looking at their players if I was a closed minded uninformed person I would think that those players have "character issuses" too

Umm, do you know anything about some of the players we've had here? Obviously not.

I fail to see how a guy having to pay his bills amounts to "character issues".

Anyway, just because an athletic person needs to be invited to church is no reason to put him on the team.

Troy, nice diatribe that said absolutely nothing. We are all against poverty, racism, mean people and disenfranchisement. The fact of the matter is that it is a privilege to receive a scholarship of any kind, not a right. Scholarships are limited in number and therefore like most other things on this planet there is a process to aquire one. No one thinks this young man should be deprived of the opportunity to get a job, or to vote, or to procreate.
However I for one applaud our coaches if upon inspection in their determination this young man would be a detriment to the further development of our team. I don't know if you are familiar with our team but it is not like we haven't given some kids second chances when other places wouldn't (aka Kent Hicks). I am somewhat familiar with the situation surrounding this particular athlete and he is one of those guys who every time there is adversity, it is somebody elses fault. It's not like FSU was playing a couple of stiffs in front of him. Gregg Carr and Decody Fagg will both be NFL draft picks, yet he thought he should play in front of them. He is a ME guy. I for one am proud of our staff for having the guts to say no, we can find guys that have talent and character. This guy may grow up and become a superstar player and person, so be it. It just won't be here.

I think it's the way someone goes about paying those bills.

Fine, but unless troy is willing to share that part, it doesn't apply.

RTF, you know that sometimes that part doesn't need to be shared on a public forum.

Then troy shouldn't have brought it up.

And screw Appalachian State.
