2007 Review: Offensive Line

Today we have the final review on the offensive side of the ball, and its the big boys up front, the offensive line.

  • 1. Marshal Ausberry (starter)
    2. Eddie Pinigis (starter)
    3. Stephen Sene (starter)
    4. Britt Stone (starter)
    5. Mike Godsil (starter)
    6. Mario Cosby
    7. Zach Davis
    8. Tim Hartman
    9. Bryan Mosier
    10. Orlandon Perez
    11. Antonio Tassara
    12. Justin Vargas
    13. Josh Weaver
    14. Chase Harrington (redshirt)
    15. Spencer Hodges (redshirt)
    16. Toney White (redshirt)

2007 was another great year for the offensive line (ok so I said I would not have any stats yesterday but I did find a little something). Liberty as a team rushed for 2375 yards, and allowed only 8 sacks. Sene, Pinigis and Ausberry all earned All-Conference honors, and Sene has been invited to participate in the 2008 Hula Bowl, the second Flame to receive that honor (after Eric Green). Also, Pinigis and Ausberry were named honorable mention All Americans. Sene, Pinigis and Ausberry will not be returning in 2008, but there will be plenty of players looking to step up and fill their spots come the spring, as well as the return of starters Mike Godsil and Britt Stone. For 2008, look for the freshmen that redshirted in 2007 to jump right in and battle for playing time. Mosier and Weaver were listed as the backups at left guard and right tackle respectively, but with as many linemen on the roster as there are, there should be battles at the many of the positions, except for center (Godsil) and right guard (Stone).

I'll switch Dove today to QB. As for the commits, what I did not list in my rundown was that the last part of my 07 review will be a general look at the 08 class. Im saving that for signing day though

Okay heres the low down on our Oline

Brock doesnt love his Offensive Line enough, I believe he will look like Paul Crewe the first play of next season

I was sworn to secrecy on this, but I saw Brock with the 5 projected starters on the OL for next year, at a local restaraunt. Word on the street is, Brock picked up the tab. I can not comment on the restaraunt or who the 5 OL were.

ok. My guess is that the line is going to be Mosier, Vargas, Godsil, Stone and Weaver when the spring starts (mostly because Vargas, Mosier and Weaver were listed as the #2 guys at their positions in 07) but I would not in the slightest be surprised if the names were very different even come the end of the spring and definitely when the season opens against North Greenville

Look for a color change in the James River to a "rosier hue", and any green and gold large carnivores migrating to Candler's mountain, in regards to the O line. Just rumors......but keep an eye out and let us know what you're seeing....

Stirring the pot a little is good for the flamefans as well as the players.
