Word is that Stephen Sene has been invited to the Hula Bowl.
Congatulations are in order. He's a great guy, has had three good years at LU and well deserving of the honor.

Talked to him today. He found out yesterday and is leaving tomorrow. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

LU Notebook: Sene will play in Hula Bowl
By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
January 5, 2008
A year ago, Liberty football coach Danny Rocco sat with offensive tackle Stephen Sene and discussed all of the reasons why Sene should petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility.
At the top of the list: The chance to improve Sene's draft stock.
I could've sworn Eric Green or Wayne Haddix had played in the Hula Bowl back in the day. But apparently not.
Sene will be the first Flame to ever appear in the Hula Bowl.

I also would have thought Eric or Wayne might have played in it, but unsure. Best to Stephen.

He said the last time he was in Hawaii was when he was really little (if you can imagine that) but says he still has family out there. He gets 25 tickets so his dad is planning to go and I believe his brothers also as I'm sure other relatives he has out there. He is so excited and he only shows it with that dentyne smile of his.

When he told me when and what time it was going to be, I told him that he can be rest assured that it's going to be like the "Super Bowl" at our house!! WOOhoo!!! Way to go Sene!
Regarding Vince Redd in the same article......he's goingto be in my ol' stomping grounds!

Sly, I think you are right. Eric Green definitely played in some type of mostly DIA all star game because I remember watching it on TV, and I would have sworn that it was the Hula Bowl. Are there other all star games Eric could have played in instead?

East/West Shrine Bowl?

Back in the day the other two games were the Blue-Gray All-Star Game and the East-West Shrine Game. Maybe the Senior Bowl was around back then as well but I don't recall.

Steve is playing on the West squad for some reason, but he is playing, which is good, #67.

They've played him quite a bit. It's great to see that Liberty Flames helmet.

I only caught a few moments of the game, but caught a good glimpse of him on the sideline behind the coach.
