So on other posts there was limited discussion about helmets. With a new era beginning in Flames Football, why not revisit helmet graphic ideas. Also, any cool flames designs or graphics that could be used on alt merchandise.

Here are a few to get the ball rolling...

I like that first one. It can be hard sometimes to get a good flame design.

I know the purists on this board will hate it, but I like the idea of doing something to our lids that fit the Flames theme. It would certainly make us stand out.

Here are a few more alternate ideas for the merging of the Liberty theme and Flames. Would work well as a component of merchandising. I'm not a fan of the Eagle photo, but incorporating the proto logo with this would be a cool alternate variation to sell more merchandise.

I just think going with a completely unique take on the helmet thing would be cool. I mean when the players walk in on equipment day and see those lids waiting for them, how could you not get pumped up? When I played sports, you were always a little envious of the team that had the better complementary colors and cooler logos and uniforms. Something along these lines would make us stand out, and would work well for branding since it would sinc well with the new logos flames...slap the new logo on the sleeve and or front shoulder and I think you have something people would sit up and take notice of.

BTW, the first one reminds me of a sports logo that has a bull with fire coming out of its nostrils...how many lineman wouldn't want that extra menacing look when they lined up on the line of scrimmage...

Maybe a design that uses the deep blue with a border on a deep red helmet, like the deep red that is on the second helmet where the blue flame envelopes it...I might just have to buy one to have in the game room on display...

Fella's fella's fella's. These are absolutely HIDEOUS. I am sorry I just don't like the Orange County Chopper look. Perhaps me and some of my "friends" should come over and help out!

like this one the best. Completely impractical- wildly improbable- actually, no chance it will ever happen. but I like it.

For what it's worth (not much), I hate the flame idea. It looks rediculous. Imagine what that looks like on the sideline... the team would look like a lit matchbook. There is a line between savage and silly. These helmets would have crossed that line.

Proto's logo on the helmets now looks good. I agree that something better could be on the sleeves but I think the eagle logo looks good on the helmet. Maybe get them to put metalic blue paint or something... but that's about it.

Michael Bolton: That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life, Tom.
Samir: Yes, this is horrible, this idea.

As a Bengal fan I can confidently say: stick with a logo on your helmet. It's beneficial in the long run.

I'm cool with the rest of the uniform based on Protos design ... but the logo doesn't stand out on the helmets. When it is shrunk down to go on the side its tough to recognize.

Everyone's first reaction to the Flames concept is generally horror. But the more you look at it the more it grows on you. In all honesty a basic flames concept isn't that much different than what Michigan has been using for decades. Its unique, stands out and gives us something that would attract attention.

Otherwise, I am cool with a solid color lid such as metallic red.

go to white helmets and the non-worded logo. the logo really only stands out on a white background anyway.

add that to blue shirts and white pants ditch teh flamey things around the shoulders (I can't remember if they already did that or not.) and you've got a classy uniform

I'm not married to the flaming helmet, but I like how it helps us step out of the box a little.

Here's a pretty good site to check out what just about all of the other Football Teams in existence use or have used...there are several that don't use a traditional logo and they stand out. I like the new logo, except for when it is on the helmet--I agree with Sly that it is tough to see. IMO they either need to retouch the new logo by making the flame lines thicker or something or go with a non-traditional helmet of some design, whether it incorporates flames or is a solid color.

I can't imagine why that league folded. Great logos they had back in the day, huh?

The Portland Bent Thumbtacks right next to the Charlotte Clip-art Bees. Shreveport must have known they weren't a very good team to give themselves that nickname.

Me and Tally actually agree, somewhat. The fire on the helmets looks just plain bad.

Put a varsity letter type LU on the helmets and the eagle logo on the jerseys and you'll be set.

You're old school, Jon. I've always wanted to ditch the eagle mascot entirely and light up a raging tire fire in the north end zone during games.

If we are stuck with the new logo on the helmets, then I agree the helmets should be white as the logo is very difficult to see on the current helmets. The flames on the sleeves should be ditched and replaced with the new logo. I'm not opposed to keeping the new logo on the helmets if we can get it to show up better, but the flames idea as has been said before, would give us a unique look. It would have to be done right though as to not be awful looking.

I'm old school in everything. I think you should wear stirrups in baseball with the pants legs hiked up.

White cleats are a must as well.

Would be interested to see a current player and current coaches take on the helmet issue. Would be interesting to see what the general consensus of the players is concerning their gear.

Maybe it's just me, but the helmet logo is probably the furthest thing from their minds right now. I think all of this is spring boredom because none of us are in a position to have any of this changed.
