No, I don't have any Sly-like insider information, but since it's Thanksgiving Break, I thought it would be fun to offer up some possible slogan suggestions for Coach Rocco to consider for the 2008 football season.
2007: "Good to Great"
2008: _____________ (please insert your recommended slogan)

I would have suggested this for 06 but I think Rising from the Ashes would be a good slogan for 08

This is true but considering where we came from I figured it would be fitting. We may not be the Phoenix but our rise the last two years has been very phoenix-like

I agree...Was the initial Good 2 Great slogan only meant for one season? Good 2 Great should continue to be what the team strives for, and then, once we win the FCS Championship game, we can think of a new one

Good to Great is not meant for the team, but rather for the program.

Good to Great is not meant for the team, but rather for the program.
In my opinion the two are somewhat interchangeable, as I believe the team reflects the quality of the program. What exactly are you saying here?

it's a disease spreading to all of our threads. No, but check the now locked "rate the season" thread for what he means.

A team is something that lasts one year. A program is something that lasts a lot longer than a year. Youngstown St, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Furman all have great programs, but didn't have great teams this year. Good to Great was meant in terms of taking the program from a good program to a great one, not a good team to a great team. Great teams can be decent teams who have all the breaks go their way (Rutgers of 06, Kansas 07). Great programs on the other hand, consistently put out great teams and that's what we're looking to do. Good to Great is more than a one-year thing.

then why was it this year's slogan?

I have no clue. You should ask Hancock that, not the FOC. I honestly couldn't tell you. It started as a team thing and then (I'm guessing here) was something that was very marketable so it was marketed. Good to Great is a program motto based on five key attributes, not a slogan for one year's team.
