Wow...he must have FUBAR'd it...
...many times a fibula will just be casted. It should heal fine, I would guess...since that is not the weight-bearing bone in the lower leg.

He told me he was going to have to get pins in his leg to stabilize it.

That's not good. What year is Mike again?
IF we do get in, How good is Stone?

According to the roster Mike is a Junior. Britt did pretty admirably filling in today.

As a sidebar, Britt Stone did play some center in the year or two before Coach Rocco came in so its not like he is in an unfamiliar spot on the field

He came back after the game during all the celebration. He's on crutches. He looked okay despite the injury. He was wearing his Big South Champion tshirt

sorry to hear that for Mike- but if any program can help a guy rehab- its THIS one. Plus, he's got the whole offseason.
Hoping surgery goes smoothly and praying for all the best for him.

My prayers are with Mike and the docs.
Not saying that this isn't a serious injury, but the Fibula is the non weight bearing bone in the lower leg with the Tibia being the weight bearing bone. Athletes have actually been known to compete with a simple fracture of the fibula. That is clearly not what this is. The fact that they are talking about pins would indicate that this is a more serious displaced fracture. Successful surgury and rehab should make the bone as good as new. The biggest risk is possible nerve damage which could affect the function of the foot.

It was a cheap shot hit. Mike's a tough kid, he'll be back. I saw all of em after the game but didn't feel like interrupting. I still can't believe they let his girlfriend out on the field.

Not actually on the field during the game....either after the game or on the sidelines right?

No, when Mike was down, mom and girlfriend came out of the stands on the field. I can semi-understand mom, but girlfriend flipping out (who does that anytime he is on the ground two seconds) was a little much. I understand being in the stands, but she shouldn't have been on the field. Mom can go out there because she's mom. Girlfriend no.
