LU w/ 54 rushes for 255 on the ground

by contrast, GW had 20 carries for 16 yards total on the ground

Celebrate good times, come on!

Yay, well deserved win, a flawless victory, and the Lady Flames shined brightly too!

All in all, a great day to be a Flame! I didn't expect LU to pitch a SHUTOUT!!!!!

G-W had not been shut out in 51 straight games according to the MASN broadcasters

To borrow from Travis Tritt (as I was corrected in another discussion and with some paraphrasing):

Well its a great day to be a Flame
Because we won the Big South in Jesus name!
Had some hard times in the neighborhood
Which makes days like today feel twice as good...

Congrats on the championship guys. Without a football team at WU, I really don't have a dog in the fight (though I do generally root for CSU's team, only because they are right down the street from me, and they need all the fan support that they can get)...but I'm really glad Coastal didn't get it again.

Im sorry for the cheesy song reference...it just fits the joy of the day for me. I am excited to see what this team can do to build on the last two years. BTW I believe this is our longest winning streak in season in a while

How will the championship be shown at Williams Stadium? The baseball team has their championships painted on the backfield wall and of course there are banners in the Vines for Volleyball and basketball championships.

YES! LIBERTY WON. I was stuck running camera for the VMI/Citadel Circus. Then I had to listen to JE stumble through the 2nd half on the radio. I love Danny's comments. I personally don't see the playoffs, but what a great season, and Championship.
OH Yea! VMI is Terrable part 2!

go to the Keydet board and I'm sure you'll read all about how they should've won, the BSUCK is a horrible conf, and they really are close to being great

I was there for 2 weeks in a row, and they are very Bad. They couldn't stop all of our mothers from moving the ball. It was like 14 to nill within the first five minutes.

Dang. The cross country team never got any of that action!
As long as we made it to the bus, we counted it as a success.

Football Captures First-Ever Big South Title after Dominating 31-0 Win at Gardner-Webb

Liberty Flames - 2007 Big South Championships

November 17, 2007
Boiling Springs, N.C.
» Box Score

In a year which showcased the most potent offensive attack in program history, it was a stifling defense which aided Liberty’s 31-0 victory over Gardner-Webb, Saturday afternoon, at Spangler Stadium, giving Liberty its first-ever Big South Conference football championship.

With the victory, the Flames cap off the second year under head coach Danny Rocco with an 8-3 record and an unblemished 4-0 Big South record to claim the title. Liberty’s eight wins makes the 2007 squad the fifth team in program history to finish a year with eight or more victories and the first since 1997 when Liberty was 9-2.
