For LU's Bolden, talk's not cheap

Dominic Bolden and his mother, Patricia Robinson, have a weekly ritual. They talk before every Liberty game, and not necessarily about football. It could be anything - Bolden's class work, his teammates, the family, whatever.

"We exchange a few words, talk about some things, she tells me about how my brother is doing," Bolden said. "Last game, she talked to me and said, 'see, our little talks are working.'"

The combination has been humming of late. Bolden caught four passes for 111 yards last Saturday at Presbyterian, giving him three straight games with 100 or more receiving yards. He’s only the fourth Liberty receiver to accomplish the feat.
“We’ve been pretty much working on this stuff since the summer, and we knew there was going to be a time where we’d need to come up big,” Bolden said. “We’ve just been clicking lately.”

Brock Smith’s 41-yard pass to Dominic Bolden in the third quarter might have come at great cost.
Bolden left the game with an injury after his right knee buckled when he came down with the ball near the Elon sideline.
“It doesn’t look good,” Liberty coach Danny Rocco said. “I don’t know if it’s a ligament or a tendon. It’s not an ACL or an MCL, but it doesn’t look good in the short term. In the long term, I hope he’ll be OK.”
Bolden caught six passes for 95 yards, both game highs, and he returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
