FlameFans thread on Keydet message board

FF is getting some love & respect from the Keydet message board.
As a community, Flamefans is head and shoulders above other college message boards I've seen.
http://vmisports.proboards57.com/index. ... 1194460425
And our own Super Jon has found their message board:
You guys can keep thinking you're above everybody else in the Big South. That's fine. As a school and an institution, you are. No one in the Big South respects your institution and what your students do more than me. However, athletically speaking, you're associated with CSU and Radford in most sports. Like it or not, that's the truth of it.
I bet you guys really hate college kids who leave I-A schools to come home and play in front of their families, especially when their dads are having health trouble. That's just terrible. Kids wanting to be youth pastors and coming to Liberty for that are terrible. Guys wanting to get their master's degree after graduating from other institutions are just terrible too.

I've been over there since basketball last year. They truly think they're better than everybody.

But at least some of them have a sense of humor

:
So, all your big, mean, physical football players are at Liberty because they want to be youth pastors? Well, since they're youth pastors, and our guys are youth, maybe you could ask them to play nice on Saturday.

you are much more respectful to them then i every would be, which is why i don't post over there....I have respect for the institution to an extent...but they have always looked down on us, and for that its very hard to remain respectful to what that insitution stands for

On the football field the word "nice" doesn't exist for Vince Redd.

Here's what you need to post to get them fired up...
...Unlike Stonewall Jackson...you will need not fear being shot by your own men on Saturday...you just need to fear VINCE REDD.

I dont' really understand the Stonewall Jackson fetish they have up there at the I considering the way he was treated when he was there. He was never a student (he went to Army) but did serve as a professor for a number of years. However, even then, he was wildly unpopular at the time because he was seen as too 'religious' (ironic, considering a certain 'bobcatturner's complaints about Liberty) and a group of alumni even tried to force him out in 1855. Apparently, the only thing that made him a hero to the VMI community was his getting killed.

Mo and the guys at Keydet Sportstalk are good people and I enjoy posting over there. They give us props and this thread is how we respond? Come on, guys.

They talked down about our guys with their typical elitist attitude. They think they're better than everyone in the Big South when really, the majority of their athletic programs are terrible. I hope they don't get embarrassed by The Citadel this year, because it's the last time for a while that they're going to get a chance.
Also, they might be good people, but there's a reason our athletic department moved the visiting section for Saturday's game. They don't want the cadets anywhere near us because they've seen the crap that was started when we went to VMI last year and when they came here for basketball. I appreciate what their students do after they graduate, but they still start more crap than any other school's students in the Big South.

Good for you.

What props? I read over there on a regular basis and whatever time they have that's not spent on finding their next 215 lb. O-lineman is spent bashing us and The Citadel. They've been talking smack since 2002 when they thought they were going to come into the 'Big Suck' and dominate. Guess what? Hasn't happened. Hasn't even come close to happening and they don't know how to deal. I've got more respect for CSU than I have for VMI.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about.
Posted on the VMI board this morning.
Please do not insult UVA or Lynchburg with Jerry Fartwell University. I know it is not nice to dish the dead but he was a fraud.

What goes around comes around. You can only put so much stuff like that out into the world before it catches up to you. It's unfortunate that someone like that is associated with VMI.
Besides, you can accuse JF of being a lot of things, but being a fraud was hardly one of them. He was probably the most genuine person I've ever met. Even the media understood that after he died. He believed what he preached.

If that's the kind of class they've got at VMI, I understand a little better why they couldn't get into a real military academy. Makes me feel better that I turned them down back in '86.

Sorry, I had to fix it for you to get the full effect. I have been saying it all day, but since I sit on the Baptist side I was too afraid to start the chant.
Did you get it going Super, I couldn't hear if you did.

the sad part about it is... there are some guys at VMI that have class. I thought the Cadets were pretty good as far as keeping it clean and calm. kinda easy to do when you are getting killed but still. and the film guy for VMI actually apologized for swearing in front of me. shook my hand after the game said we played well and good luck against GW. now that my friends is how it should be. as for the vast populi at VMI. i don't know. but i do know the guys that i encountered at the game were a class act.

All of the VMI fans and students were nothing but respectful and polite today. I love how their cadets never leave early, never sit down, never stop cheering.

and how the players and fans remove their helmets/hats and sing the school song, now that was classy!

Oh, give me a break, Smooth!
You grow up. What crap have we posted here? Please, tell me because the best you're going to come back with is the 'West Point Rejects" chant and it does not qualify as crap. It's the oldest chant in the book and they've heard it multiple thousand times. There has been nothing else in this thread but personal observations and recitation of fact. If you want to go ballistic over all things VMI, you're aiming at the wrong people.

I wanted to stay out of your family discussion here, but I need to let you know that this guy isn't one of ours.
I'm not keen on that type of discussion and debated wiping that comment.

Thanks, Mo. You've kept things classy between the two boards. It's appreciated.
