Nearly $5k in endowment funds for every student enrolled. Not too shabby.

After yesterday's convo, I'm starting to judge every school by their endowment fund.

Nothing wrong with judging ANYTHING by how well endowed...

Jr. was discussing the $2.5m real estate donation we had at the beginning of the year and (in passing) said we'd like to have $100k per student enrolled in our endowment fund. That's the long-term goal, I suppose. The students were behind it because he also mentioned it could drop their tuition rates by $5-10k (at today's rate I'm assuming.)

So, for me, I'm now looking at the dollar per student ratio (DPSR, I like to call it) of other schools.

Jr said something about how as the endowment grows, it means a significant savings in tuition and the students went bonkers (well the ones who aren't graduating this year at least)

endowment is how the true big time schools really can be judged; for instance Harvard has a 25 billion dollar endowment, and thats not a typo that is actually 2005's figure. they have about 19k in students out there so do the math...ur talkin millions per student, that said liberty is a tenth as old so a short term goal of 100k per student is a fair start....as far as stony brook goes it'll be nice to see how a state university competes in the big south against predominantly private institutions

HAHAHAHAHA actually Hoops is too busy ranting about politics, and outside that, has no time for pety arguements with the likes of us. Besides why would he come to the football section when everything that matters in life is in the "Samford ....." thread.

I'm not sure if we know yet. The Big South will determine that. Some of the current members will go there, some will have them come to their place. The same is true of Presby.
