Also saw ZT's cast on Dennis Carter's sports broadcast yesterday. Is playing with a broken wrist very common and does he run the risk of further injury if he plays? Fumble & Medic, please chime in. :medic

I hope he doesn't play this week. Then he would have 2 full weeks to recover for Charleston. We all know that the Big South championship is what we're playing for. If we were to beat Toledo, I think that would happen with or without Zach.

This is relatively common in FBL...
...a Certified Athletic Trainer will often make a soft playing cast which will protect the hand and wrist from further injury...and then the player will go back into a hard cast after the game. I suspect pain will be the guide in cases like these...as well as the timing. Why risk further injury knowing the Big South games are upcoming...following a I-A game and a bye week.

also, the degree and location of the fracture is of import- as BRIEFLY described in the article (not much to go on) it doesn't APPEAR to be a significant fracture- at least not one that severely impacts his range of motion or neuro-response. It may, in fact, be a partial fx as opposed to a compound fx. That, however, is PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART.

in any case, FR knows far better what the capability of splinting and protecting is. I'd agree that there really is no point in playing him and potentially worsening the injury in a non-conf game- though you KNOW he wants to be on the field.

my only minor disagreement was the point of us winning with or without him- I truly believe #7 is an intergral part of the success of our offense- its true we are only as good as Brock is- but when ZT doesn't get in there, our offense suffers. He brings a whole new dimension to the table, and forces the defense to account for him on every play. That's significant.

I agree that ZT makes a big difference when he is on the field, but I think if we were to pull this upset it will be because of everything else going right. Namely our defense and passing game. I don't think we will have much of a problem running on them if ZT is in the game or not. I know he brings more to the table than just running, but I think we have enough talent on offense to overcome him not being on the field.
