I don't like Wisconsin football all that much, but the students sure do seem to have a good time at the games.

End of the 3rd Quarter (not the best quality, but you get the idea):

Not sure when, but it is their BETTER version of 'Hey Baby'

Uh, that's a Liberty game, just with more people. I don't know the last time you sat in the student section, but we do all of that and more.

And that was Fill Me Up Buttercup, not Hey Baby.

I know what the title of the song is. I was saying that is THEIR version of what LU sings, which is Hey Baby.

I was getting at the fact that they have more people all doing the same thing. Yes, the amount of people makes a difference. I was looking forward to when we had that many people in the stands.

Ok, just checking. The only thing different is the amount of people they have. Like I've said all along, I dare someone to stand with my at a Liberty game and have less fun than they do at any other game they've ever been to.

I would not argue with that. I would just encourage more people to have the same kind of fun you and your crew do at the games.

this year by far has been the best year as far as LU students go at football games...i have never seen an atmosphere at LU at an athletic event like I have for the football games aside from the men's basketball big south championship game, which is my best memory for an athletic event...

one day we will have a much larger student section...but we are doing pretty well right now...

All a matter of time; At some point the tide will turn...Remember that you are facing the entrenched genetics of Baptist DNA. (The same DNA that causes one to think that the jokes about baptists and dancing are hilarious. )

Although, it looks like the students have climbed aboard the bandwagon...that's good to see.

I have to agree with postman that the Big South Championship game was hands down the GREATEST atmosphere for a sporting event EVER at LU. The line to get in the Vines Center was wrapped around the side of the building HOURS before the doors opened, not to mention the ridiculously long line earlier that morning just to get tickets. The atmosphere inside was NUTS as well. I think one of the most creative chants I've ever had came from the student section that day when we started chanting, "We're not purple," at High Point. I have that game on tape and I have to say being there that day, and getting trampled on the court after the game are memories I'll cherish forever.

Are we talking 2004, 1994, or a different year?

2004, and I was the 3rd person in line for tickets and to get in the stadium. Got there at 7 in the morning. It was a blast! Before the game was even over those of us in the front got pushed onto the court right behind the bench. It was so packed down there, I had a hard time getting any oxygen! That's not a lie either.

I've got some blurry pictures from the end of that game. I had the distinct pleasure of sitting behind our chancellor and former chancellor at that game. They were as excited as anyone else in the place when it was all said and done.

In 1994 practically the whole school traveled to Charleston SC to witness the mayhem. The paper called it "Vines Center South". I really thought it was the beginning of something big for LU Basketball. Of course then a few years later we lost our coach, our momentum and the result is where we are today. "Rebuilding" Thanks Randy D. Two times over.

It won't take RM long to get us on top again. The question is can we stay there this time? (I hope his assistants are not only good coaches but LOYAL as well).

I guess this is more suited for the bball forum, but come on, I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves. That's not the question at all.

Good memory, ALA. That was the year Jerry gave the entire student body an "excused absence" from classes if they attended that game. I think he even announced it that way in Convo. As I recall, I only had 2 students in class that afternoon and everyone else was in Charleston for the game. What I can't recall is if Jerry got a booster to also pay for the tickets or if the students had to pay for the tickets themselves. My guess is that the former senario is more likely true, but it's only a guess.
