Ok can he come from under the bus? He looked like the Brock I always told you guys about, even his level of happiness and presence. He text messaged me at 10:02, the first one was for you...... I was so proud, he really got behind Spencer also, and he told me yesterday that he is really is Spencer's corner, that proves this team is really coming together.. I just have a good feeling with the momentum going into Toledo. The guys just looked like they were having fun.. A pleasure to watch... Boy did I sleep good last night..

I think Brock deserves to start now. I really think that Toledo is a winnable game for us for we go out there and execute and get a little creative in our play calling and the defense shows the same intensity as yesterday and continues to improve in the weaker areas like the pass play over the middle and there TE. Toledo is 1A but they are not having that good of a year but have played Purdue and Kansas. I don't know if you remember back that far but LU did beat a 7-3-1 Eastern Michigan team back in 1989 when LU had Eric Green and Robbie Justino playing for them. So beating a 1A is not mission impossible like some people think.

You can not say that we can beat toledo because we beat st. francis and two DII teams. If we had beaten W&M or Elon than maybe. Also, brock did show alot of good qualities last night, but they had a horrible defense.

Jons gonna be ticked at me but Im still reverting to my post back in the beginning of the year - I cant trust him until he shows me 2. 2 games in a row in which he looks good. Now with Toledo coming up, I just want to see Brock not make dumb plays. I want to see him look alright. He doesnt have to win games for us, he just needs to hold his end. He looked good, but everybody looked good. Not taking away from his performance, he looked good he knew what he was doing all the time. I just want to see yesterday Brock against somebody who counts for something before I jump on the boat (no more busses) Thats me. Ill believe it when I see it against someone good.

I don't think that this Toledo team is quite as good as the Toledo team that shellacked us 49-3 back a few years ago. Back then we had Gus "freakin" Condon at QB. I think that Brock Smith is better than that guy.

No one said "because we beat stfu and 2 DII's." The reasons stated are because we have momentum and because Toledo isnt that good.

Id venture to say because Toledo is favored to win we have a good chance

I don't mind you say that. As long as you give credit when there are good games, you can criticize in the bad games.

Brock is the man right now...but like others have said, he really needs to string some good games together....I have always felt Brock has all the tools, its just putting them all together in one game that seems to be the problem...

You can't say that we are going to, but you can think we'll have a good showing. Their top two QBs were knocked out last night and a true freshman finished the game. Even the starter was only completing 53% of his passes. They're giving up 40+ points per game. Last night they had less than 5000 more people at their game than we did. They're worse than App St, but better than W&M/Elon.

I think LU has a shot next week...do I think they will win?? probably not...but they have a shot, they just have to continue to get better...and if Brock puts it all together and Zach is alright, I don't see why we don't make a game of it

Keep it in perspective there, Auntie. One of the reasons Brock looked like he did in high school was because, as many folks have pointed out, St. Francis practically WAS a high school team. It sounds like everyone, including Brock, looked great but let's keep it in perspective. We should have pummelled this team. That fact that we did just means we are back to normal not that we achieved some major milestone.

Let's string a few good performances together before start crowning new heros. Don't misunderstand me. Brock deserves to start, he did his job. Is ANYONE that has played poorly off the hot seat because they played well against St. Francis High School? NO. Does this win act as a confidence booster going in to the rest of our schedule? I hope so but I thought that the first two DII games were supposed to be for that and look what happened.

Lets see what happens the next few games...

The thing that was impressive about Brock was not his stat line. I could care less what his stat line for last night was. What was impressive was he was hitting his receivers in the numbers, he was reading his progressions, and he was making good decisions. That's what impressed me, not the stat line.

Awesome! Do it again next week against a stronger pass rush and better defensive backs. Let's see some sort of consistency. I am not trying to be critical. I just want to see some follow through against better competition before I am willing to say "All is Well" again.

I also follow Alabama and something similar is happening with their QB. He looks great one game then average the next. Sometimes both in one game. I say the same thing about him. You need consistency out of the QB position. Especially a second year starter like Brock or JP Wilson.

I am not out to get Brock or any of the others that have so far been inconsistent. Its just that beating St. Francis and a couple of DII teams is not my definition of success and it may or may not help us get to the next level on our journey back to respectability. It depends on if we can take what we learn in these games and follow through and play well in games that matter. We will start to find out next week and the weeks ahead. I hope we come out the rest of the season and drill some teams. I hope Brock looks as good the rest of the way as he did last night. We need it. The school needs it. It is what we all want.

I was just trying to explain, from the eyes of someone that was there, how he was better. Even against the DII's he was throwing behind receivers, over their heads, etc. All but one of his passes last night were perfectly thrown. I understand the "show it to me more than once" criticisms, but I just wanted to show the things that the stat line doesn't show.

I agree with SJ that it wasn't just the StFU defense last night that made Brock look good. He was on the money.

I also agree that I'd like to see it consistently. However, I don't think I'll be able to tell how he does at Toledo by just listening to the audio and looking at the stats. That's unfortunate.

late to the party- but have to concur w/ the Bama fan (first time I've EVER said that)

that St Francis game was a great scrimmage, but by Tuesday will be a distant memory.

Our guys, incl Brock- played well- but its sorta like practice swings on the driving range: looks great- now do it in a real game.

IF the following things happen, we have a shot at Toledo:

IF the offense can manage to execute in the face of a real DI defense...

IF the coaching staff can open the playbook and not have to resort to Rashad off tackle all night...

IF the defense can manage to cover the WR and TE's...

We have a shot.

BIG if's. In short- Brock definitely didn't hurt his chances to keep his job Sat nite, but that wasn't a real gage of talent for anyone on the first string.

ok AA it was one game and i give props to brock for an outstanding effort, but i think we all want to see consistency, and if so, he can drive the bus all he wants.

Didn't see that.

I did see him force a fumble that was unfairly called an incompletion.

and its never a bad set. its always the kicker or snappers fault.

It is never Chris Rocco's fault.
