Brock Smith is still Liberty's starting quarterback, but backup Spencer Landis will see an increase in his reps Saturday against St. Francis (Pa.).

This is what is known as a shot across the bow of Brock. Hopefully he responds the way we all want him to.

You guys are reading waaay too much into that article.

Agreed, Tire Fire. It is what it is. I don't think this is an indication of Brock being put on warning, so to speak.

the way rocco said it, it seems like he is saying he wants landis to get some experience because brock keeps getting injured. brock has come out of 3 games hurt already, even though i guess they were just stingers. but when he comes out they have to have someone to go in who can keep things under control.

believe what you want to believe. let's just see what happens.

I am wondering more about the quote about Zach. Rocco mentions that ZT needs to get the ball more, but then he said if not this Sat, then next Sat???? So...we know he needs the ball, we are just going to wait a week to do it? Get him the ball!

What's there to believe or wait and see? Brock is the starter. The staff has said they're going with Brock, and they want Landis ready in case Brock gets hurt. They said it 2-3 times yesterday alone.

Taken literally, it would appear (and is stated) that Spencer getting more reps is only a precautionary measure. Yes, Brock is the starter. But how do you get your backup ready for more PT after a horrible performance by your starting QB WITHOUT totally shattering his confidence? You give the backup more reps as a "precautionary" measure
Brock is our starter, but if Spencer comes out there on Saturday and puts on a show and looks better than him, you never know what may happen. But hey, maybe we ARE reading into this too much??? OR maybe Rocco is as smart as we all originally thought??

If the writer of the article says you're reading too much into it, you are. Brock has been unable to finish two games this season due to a stinger. You have to have the backup ready because of that.

He was unable to finish 2 games, but those 2 games were already well decided by that point. If the game was still undecided, I'm sure he would have played.

Jon, when he has these stingers, he loses all feeling in his left arm. I don't know how late into the Elon game you stayed, but after he got the stinger, he was trying to throw on the sideline and he could throw a little, but wouldn't have been able to go back into the game.

I left right after that drive. I saw him start to throw, but I was on the way out of the stadium. He was throwing in the Shippensburg game and looked like he could have gone back in. You may be right about the Elon game though since I wasnt there anymore.
