The offensive line showed up to play. Everyone else stayed in Lynchburg.

Brock Smith showed absolutely no composure and panicked whenever his first option wasn't available.

Rashad Jennings was sent running up the middle nearly every time he touched the ball.

ZT was on the sideline for most of the game.

The defense still can't stop the TE on a slant route. Anyone who sees the W&M tape will have our number.

Most importantly, the coaches showed no ability to adjust. They also showed no confidence in the depth of their playbook (or at least the ability of their team to execute it).

We were HORRIBLE today on all fronts. It was embarrassing. It's the first time in three years I've left early from a Liberty football game. I wasn't going to sit there sweating in the sun if the team wasn't going to play.

There had better be some good answers for what happened today come Tuesday night.

i think almost everyone left early. i was sunburnt bad and tired, and i couldn't watch it anymore. it was too depressing.
can't put this off on any one thing, the whole team was terrible. in my opinion the offense was worse than the defense, but the were both really bad.
the playcalling and coaching wasn't up to par either. the whole game was just bad. i'm sunburnt, tired and depressed

It looks like our season is in the dumper right now. I thought that we were overhyped to begin with but no one on this board ever communicated that. No one dared to. Winning the Big South doesn't mean anything and Toledo will eat us alive. I am a little worried about the future since we are so upperclassmen heavy in the starting lineup thanks to the transferes but that could change after this horrible performance.

something had better change, or this season is gonna be ugly. i'm not looking forward to toledo right now. hopefully we can pull it together before coastal.

We were certainly bad today, but you've just been waiting to take a pessimistic dump on this board. So, pardon me if I disagree with you about winning the Big South not meaning anything. We've never done it and if we can do it with this team, that'd certainly be impressive. It would absolutely mean something.

We might have been over-hyped but there's no reason to discount EVERYTHING because of it. It just means a revival (or beginning?) of football at LU might progress slower than we had all hoped.

We will not beat GW or Coastal if we do not improve BIG time. We will probably have another QB the rest of the year as well, Bro ck is hurt, but I think we are due a change even if he can play. Can't keep overthrowing people wide open in the end zone and be successful.

And it's not so much that its Brock's fault, although he made some bad passes, its just that we NEED change.

Hursky and Vince looked alright on defense, and when Rashad got the ball outside the hashes he actually gained yardage. Other than that, and the line showing up, nothing to be proud about.

Oh, and props to Elon. They knew what would work, and they did it. #19 Lit us up big time (16 for 219 and 4 TD's) and they saw that early and capitalized.

I don't follow Toledo, but, The Flames will eat CCU alive. If anyone wants to make a friendly wager on that - not money but a dinner at McDonalds, or something FRIENDLY, I'll take it!!

At this point I'd be happy to beat Presby.

Oh, and one other thing...

The FRESHMAN QB went 33/39!
That's just wrong.

Well said.

Some wholesale changes are in order--but these changes should have been made after the first and second games.... it was fairly obvious that we weren't who we thought we were after struggling against two D-2 teams....

Freshman or not. If you're good, you're good. If you're bad, you're bad, regardless of academic classification.

At LU, we are under this bizarre delusion that if we keep playing a poor QB, he'll eventually get better and actually get good.

Right now, we don't have a passing game and we don't have a pass defense. This is a recipe for a very loooooong season.

Before it gets lost in all of the negativity surrounding the teams play (which is completely deserved), a big huge THANK YOU goes out to Elon for the class and graciousness they showed in offering condolences for the passing of Dr. Falwell before the game. It was a top-notch thing to do, and it most certainly did not go unnoticed.

In fact, everything at Elon was top-notch except for the Flames football team today. The fans, the tailgate atmosphere, the stadium, etc. was all great. To all of the Elon fans on the board, thanks for being such great hosts. You've got an A+ program down there.

Why does everyone think that St. Francis will be an easy game? St. Francis is NOT a D-2 school. They are 1-AA or whatever you want to call it...I think they play in the Metro conference with Duquane and Georgetown and some others?

They aren't really that far from where I am originally from in PA...and I believe they have a decent QB...so if they look at the tape and can hit the tight end...could be trouble.

I would like us to continue the St. Francis Red Flash series in football and basketball.

Elon was a great host. The sun was very hot. LU can take a tip on how to boost attendance if that is needed...have 5 highschool bands...geesh....there were about 250 of them...and if they each bring their parents to watch...that's an extra 750 people.

I made the point that if we take out the 4 TDs Riddle threw we'd have ourselves a game...Elon is a James West kind of team (Applying this to their passing game): "Shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more and when everybody's dead ask a few questions." That means that they are gonna throw all the live long day. Screen passes, quick slants, fly routes, whatever. What they basically did was expose our pass defense (or SEVERE lack thereof) just like William and Mary did last week. Now Im not jumping off a bridge for this season (I mean playoffs are a non-possibility for sure now if they were on life support after last week), but there have GOT to be some major changes in the defensive backfield in particular in my book.

How many more Division I-A transfers do we need to be able to win in I-AA?

I dunno... we need to stop looking for silver-linings.

Right now, we stink--bottom line.

I was one of the few who stayed until the bitter end. Once we put our back-up quarterback in (Landis?), he was hitting every receiver. It seemed like he had almost more completions in part of one quarter than Brock had the whole game, who was constantly overthrowing his receivers. If the game had any redeeming value at all, it was seeing our back up QB perform very well in the closing minutes.

Are you reading this Coach Rocco?

It's time for a change.

Landis was 4-5 passing with a touchdown in the 4th quarter. What's that, an 80% completion rate in limited minutes, compared to Brock who was 17 for 37 (45%)? I say give the kid some serious playing time against St. Francis and see how he does.
