This bugs the crap out of me

One of my professors refers to schools as Division I, then I-AA. He's a professor at our school and doesn't even realize we are Division I. It bugs me. I don't know why.

Don't be so technical.

I am in the same class. Im sure if you bring it up real nicely like he'll try to fix it.

this is the main reason I don't like the division I-A and I-AA, now I know why its there, but for people that don't take the time and look into it themselves its slightly confusing...especially now that they changed the names...

I don't know how many times I have had to explain to people what I-AA is...I have always felt, ever since I was like 14, that it was dumb to divide football into two seperate divisions in DI, but not in any other sport...

Like I said, I understand why its that way...but, thats just me

im sure he realizes. it is just technical stuff. you know what he means. this type of stuff happens all the time in sports issues and non-sports issues. if you don't want him to say it, talk to him about it. im sure he would change.

What bugs me is when people say things like:

'Bama played Western Carolina......they won, but they beat a D II school.

Liberty plays D II football, right?

Appy State has won the last two D II championships.

That kind of crap really bugs me.

You know what bugs the crap out of me? That we're a D-I AA school (yes, I know, that D-I AA is "championship division", so don't point out that technicality. I'm talking about how we're NOT a D-I A school).

Yeah, I thought about putting the "hijacked thread" alert up, but forgot.

What bugs me is people on this board, Flames fans billed as Intense -Loyal-Opinionated, who have avatars and signatures promoting other schools. Geez, talk about a slap in the face to Liberty! Even moreso than a non-sports fan who gets our FCS/D-I AA status screwed up. I didn't go to LU, didn't grow up an LU fan, my dad nor anybody in my family went to LU, but when I'm on here, I'm a freakin FlameFan, not a (insert school name here) fan. It's a bad statement to outsiders who stop by.

I like you all, but I just don't get it.

Sorry if that's bein cranky...I'm starving, waiting for my lunch.

we've had THAT argument numerous times.

re-post it over on SJ's homo-erotic request for "FAVORS" thread.

you'll get all the "carolina flamers" worked up

Ugh. Wonder how it hits recruits when they stp in and see LU's most loyal fans' hearts elsewhere. Think JB would care if his secretary showed up for work in a W&M t-shirt?

I agree although it's somewhat hypocritical of me, with another school's name in my name. But I acutally got the name on another board where I chose a name that would allow me to talk about both schools on their respective boards. And it just carried over to here so people would know who I was. So eat that excuse.

how about supposedly intense, loyal, and opinionated fans who give up on their LU football team early in the third qurater when we're only down by 11? Don't you think that's terrible, medic???

I could see that, if that were just a problem with just LU. However, I had friends, rabid, blue-blood Carolina fans, that went to NC State to get their degree. I had die-hard State fans go to UNC-Wilmington, UNC-Charlotte, & UNC-Asheville. VT fans go to UVA, VCU, & Richmond. Some of them are fans of both teams, some only one. Some switched their loyalties to their new school, some kept to the school they cheered for since they were kids.

I am a fan of Liberty Athletics. I played football here & I do some work for the athletic department. I am also a fan of UNC. Because that's where I'm from, that's what I grew up on. I am passionate about both teams.

Being passionate about two teams is fine. Declaring passion of one team on a discussion board for the other team: questionable. Using the logic that it happens everywhere else to defend it: fallacious.

oh stop. If you questioned my loyalty to a sports team everytime I claimed I had no faith in them and hated them in the middle of a game, one would think I hated all sports. We played like absolute horse dung for a long stretch in that game.

But you never stop believing! I know we played like crap, but you can't just give-up on their chances, especially when the difference is only 11 in the third quarter. I can understand admitting defeat when it is certain, but I was a little dismayed by what I read during the game Saturday night. Just keep believing...

Not defending anything. Merely stating facts. Happens on other message boards as well.

Nobody in that thread stopped listening. They just said some regretable things.
