Just a friendly reminder that you have your weekly opportunity to hang with Coach Rocco and other guests Tuesday nights at the Applebees on Candler's Mountain Road.
If you can't make it out for dinner and Flames talk, you can call into 90.9 The Light or send Coach Rocco a question:
flameshotline@liberty.edu
There certainly is plenty to talk about coming off this past Saturday's game and the one we have up next. So join in on the fun.

I'm sure GMTM would agree with that. I wouldn't mind cutting a promo for the show if itll help any. Itd be cool if we could like give stuff away on the show too like tickets to games or what not.

I missed the first part of Mark from Roanoke's follow-up question. Did he say would coach consider moving "Vince" (or who?) to Defensive end? I heard coach's answer which was quite interesting.

I'm guessing it was Vince. What'd he answer?

He actually asked the caller if he was coming Sat, and then said his question would be answered then. Great answer.

Well I liked how he said that they are starting to work in more 4 and 5 wide sets in response to what I asked about opening up the offense

They did a lot of 4 and 5 wide on Saturday.
If Vince plays DE, who plays OLB?

Who's the back-up?
I would think it would be a look and not permanent though.

I honestly don't know. Vince is rarely not on the field, so I don't know who the backup is.

According to last week's depth chart, Ian Childress is the backup. He's got 4 tackles on the year, one for a loss, and an interception.

What is his size?
What year?

or maybe change formation to a nickel when vince is DE
Posted: September 18th, 2007, 11:39 pm
by SuperJon
You can't play nickel all of the time. That's crazy.

i know, are they talking of moving him there permanently? i thought it was just for some plays like before. they could go to a 4-3, although i doubt that happens

There's no way you switch your base defense up in the middle of the season.
I missed the show, but what they're saying is a possibility of him being a DE. That would mean our lineup would be this:
DE: Vince Redd
NG: Colin Dugan
DE: Steve Ackley
OLB: Ian Childress
ILB: Stevie Ray Lloyd
ILB: Nick Hursky
OLB: Brandon Duke
CB: Kent Hicks
S: Ryan Greiser
S: Pat Dickerson
CB: Pat Calvary
That would instantly make our defensive line (the part of our defense with the most question marks) better, and our linebackers are so deep that they would still be a solid core.
It could all be speculation. Coach could've just been teasing everyone. I guess we won't know til Saturday. Either way, I've got a feeling they'll do whatever's best for the team.
