Attention All Students from the Athletics Dept.
Liberty Flames
On behalf of Liberty Athletics, thank you for your outstanding support of the Football team at the first game this past Saturday! Thank you for being early---what a sight to see the stadium full by 6:30---and thank you for wearing the white shirts & red ties---it looked awesome!
Let's do the same thing this Saturday---packing out the stadium by 6:30---but let's all be in our traditional red t-shirts!
Coach Rocco has asked that the students yell like crazy during "2001 Space Odyssey" when the team is getting ready to take the field, to help get them pumped up to start the game!
Look also to catch a glimpse of yourself on the Jumbotron at the stadium at this game!
The music at the SFC Tent on the Hancock Lawn will begin at 4:00 on Saturday, and we will have even more stuff to do, thanks to the continued help of Student Activities. Be sure and be there and bring some friends to enjoy all of the following:
Liberty tattoo's, face-painting, sign-making (contest for best sign)
Great prize drawings for coupons from Taco Bell and Chick-fil-A Wards Rd, Liberty Flames t-shirt, Jerry Falwell Bobblehead Doll, dinner from Crown Sterling, Nintendo Wii (only 2007 SFC members eligible), a chance to kick and win a car from the Mabry Automotive Group
Register to win the Mustang from LU Dining Services
Grills for tailgating, starting at 3:00
90.9 The Light on site and broadcasting their Tailgate Show
Lots of new games and activities, that weren't there last week, including a slip-n-slide
The team won't be home again till 9/29---Come out and help the team improve to 2-0 on the season!

This board has more power than I thought....

its no power at all. it is on the student page on liberty.edu. some of us did hear rumblings earlier in the week though.

there we go, now we can start talking some specifics.
It sounds like this is a rental. How long does a permanent one take to install. Will we have to wait until next season to get it intalled? This is one of the greatest days ever.

Obviously somebody very important is hanging on my every thought. You can give me a call, I got tons of ideas.

Now you can do trivia contests, A more elaborate intro, historical clips from games past (like Eastern MI perhaps?), promote Flames Club membership and capital gifts to the athletic dept, etc...
Some places they even have a few select commercials run during TV timeouts. (that might help cover the cost for now)---Perhaps throw it in as a perk for leasing space at The Plaza?
Any other ideas for it's use? It seems folks are listening.

This is what I've been saying for a long time...people with some power are listening to us (by us I mean this board)!!! Say what you want, but they are...

speaking of advertising on the jumbotron, did anybody notice that the Oppenheimer Fantasy Football league was a sponser last week? I'd love to see what the payout to win that league is.

Indeed ... I heard rumblings, but off the record is off the record ...

OK LUCONN - Can't we let that die:)
How embarrassing was that! I bought tickets for my friends that were in town that weekend and I look up to see Oppenheimer Fantasy on the board - like 55 times. It took until the 45th time that I saw there was Football League behind it. I had around 40 Jewish women come up and want to know where to buy ticket's to the Oppenheimer Fantasy.
Seriously - that was embarrassing and by no means my idea, next time I will not share with Keys my intentions for the tickets, just please give me 20 tickets.
Payout for my league is HUGE - a Trophy with a name plate. It's the tenth year of our league and Pride is enough. (and the chance to make fun of my friends when I beat them badly)

I figured any league that can afford to sponser LU football has at least a 5 digit cash payout.

Gentlemen, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here. I technical direct the UVA hoovision screen (have for 9 years and thats where I'll be tomorrow unfortunately). Anyway, it takes a second TV truck or a system somewhere to do separate opens, historical footage, video pieces for Flames Club, etc. I think what you will see right now is some basic add-ons to the FTN game feed. One step at a time please.

Is this the big secret Sly has been teasing us for months about?

(laughing) Ok, but if LU took the slow and steady approach it would not be where it is today in 36 short years. "Dream Big and make it happen" is the legacy of LU. Don't let a little thing like logistical detail get in the way! It has never stopped LU in the past!

I don't know, but the temporary one will probably be on either side of the FOC. That's where they had them for graduation/funeral

The best place for truck access will be on the end with the FOC.

Serously - I have a family member that is in a league in Florida that pays in $5,000 for Fantasy Football. It's intense. Every week they hand out over $4,000. It's a wierd system. They draft and have a salary cap and then it's kind of like a rotissory league from there. The guy who had Tomlinson could have not worked last year.

Like I said in the other thread, if you think getting this screen comes from people reading FlameFans you're crazy. There are other people, with much more influence, who sometimes want the same thing we do.

I swung by after work to take a crude picture with my phone. It's on the student side of the FOC.

Gracias. The gameday experience keeps getting enhanced more and more.
I'm curious about the set up for the screen. If it has a small switcher attached to it there remains the possibility a deck could be plugged into it to augment the FTN feed. Although it would require more cable drops than I'd care to be involved with anytime soon.
Homecoming can't get here soon enough.

I wonder if "Jumbotron" will become Vince Redd's new nickname, since I'm sure it will feature many replays of him sacking QBs and tackling runners behind the line. Just look for the 6'6" guy with the red arms.

You realize Nick Hursky had an even better game than Vince, right? He's great, don't get me wrong, but so many of us are getting stuck on Vince that we're not looking at the kid who was voted most improved by his teammates and had the hardest hit of the night.
