They had a moment of silence and then had a flag raised with the #71 on it - while someone played the bagpipes

im hoping they raise the flag every game, and make it a weekly ceremony where an honorable athlete or alumni gets to raise the flag, and it could become much like the weekly tradition with the seattle seahawks and the 12th man flag

Consider it done... Jeff Barber said that at the Flames Club Luncheon.

He may have said that during my interview but I don't really listen very well :P . No really, I believe ET is doing it at some point but I was thinking it was homecoming. I have a lot of info in my head right now and it is kinda jumbled but I know his name was mentioned.

Surely an emotional time for Dr. Towns next week, I'm sure. Outside of Macel, probably not a more fitting choice.

I remember JB saying that Andy Barrick was gonna do it for Homecoming...wouldn't it be great if he had the rest of the family with him for that moment (considering what happened to them last year)

i think the tribute is an awesome idea, but the bagpipe player definetly needs some work.

That's just what they sound like. I thought he did well for the tribute. Now when he was playing with the marching band, that's a different story. I'm sure he sounded good on the field but when he's got a mic, his sound is reaching us before the rest of the band's. That didn't sound so good.

:?

missed the halftime show- but at the tribute, the piper did a great job with Amazing Grace.

believe me- I've heard WAY too many renditions of it piped at WAY too many LODD funerals- the kid was spot on.

Would you believe that when I first talked to him and found out he played the bagpipes he had only learned how to play them this past summer?

We taped it and I was told it was going to run near the end of my interview with AD Barber. We were talking over it but I think they rolled tape. I have not seen it for myself yet though.

I didn't watch halftime. I've just seen part of the fourth quarter and the opener.
