Freshman/Redshirt Freshman

There were two true freshman I saw that played last night, LB Patrick Bannon #51 and DB Al Bailey #29. Bannon played quite a bit in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I only saw Bailey go in late in the 4th. I was kind of surprised to see him go in, and use up his redshirt. Perhaps, Rocco has seen alot out of him. Though we do have alot of depth in the defensive backfield. Kind of puzzled me that he played. Oh well.

Was Cedric Sanderson dessed? He is listed as #16, which is the same as Pat Parziale, so I assume he is already been pretty much told he will redshirt or he would have a different number. I couldn't find him on the sideline.

For the redshirts, Terry Adams only got on the field those last 30 seconds which I believe was just one play. I was surprised he didn't see much more action. I guess he's not ready yet. Did Terry Williams or Danny Broggin get any time? I would think with Rashad out they would have a better chance of playing some in spot duty. I believe Kyle O'donnell got on the field a good amount as well. Soren played alot also. He looks good, big body.

Jon, if I'm not mistaken, you can play a few downs and get redshirted.

As for Sanderson and the same number, you're allowed to have players of the same number as long as they're on different sides of the ball.

Redshirt rule...if it is a REGULAR redshirt...cannot play a down.

Injury redshirt...play in no more than 20% of the games, injury must occur in first half of the game.

Wow, I didn't realize you could have the same number as someone else. Did anyone see him last night?

Western Carolina had starters on both offense and defense that were #8.

Very common occurence. In fact #10 on USC got hurt last night but it wasn't their QB Booty.

I was looking at the depth chart in the preview for the W&M game ( http://www.tribeathletics.com/files/fb/2007/02-lu.pdf ) and the only True Freshmen I saw listed were Pat Bannon #51 and Mike Brown #10. I wonder what happened to Al Bailey? I'd think that since he used up his redshirt, he'd be on the depth chart somewhere, unless they just didnt list everyone?

I am surprised to hear that Terry Adams is playing so little. Is that becaused he missed Spring ball and is behind the others or what? He was a big time recruit from what I here. Is he not fitting in? I hear that Terry Williams is hurt. Not sure as to what extent though.
