Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering what the crowd looke dlike tonight with the white shirts & red ties. And the '71' tribute must've been awesome.

Yeah I was surprised at the number of red ties. They must have really pushed it on campus.

I'll be sending some to Supe. The White shirt/Red tie promotion looked awesome. White and red EVERYWHERE...except for about 5 knuckleheads on the 50 yard line, front row, student side...who wore RED shirts, instead.

I liked the bags pipes but I don't think the gut on the bottom picture standing in front of the Date had anything to do ewith the tribute! :)

Ok, look, here's how it is. I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong in the future. It happens, especially when you're outspoken. I never once (that I remember) said it would look bad. I said the reasons why I didn't like it. However, it went over great (which I didn't think it would) and it looked great (which I never said it wouldn't). I was wrong. It happens in life. Ask everyone I talked to from about 45 minutes before the game until I left to come home at midnight what I said about it.

The bagpipe player was Andrew Brittain...he is the marching band
s bagpipe player for halftime and they asked him to play for that pregame ceremony

The only knucklehead there was me and I was on the roof of the press box.

How bad does that last picture look with that gaping hole in it?

BJ to defend it in 5....4....3...2.....

Has there been any talk of making the ties our new 'norm' for football games? Even if LU printed White T's with Red Ties?

It loooks great and shows a unique solidarity that we're missing from our fan base. Just curious if anyone has heard anything.... obviously the school hasn't had a convo yet to make public announcements about future promotions but I can certainly see potential for some tradition to finally be built here.

I think that, in the future, we should go red most games and then maybe do a white shirt/red tie for homecoming each year. It's ok for a one game promotion.

That's a great idea. Homecoming would look sweet with 20,000 people in white shirts and red ties. My wife even bought one of the ones from U-Tees last night.

At the time that picture was taken (which I believe was the 3rd quarter) the front percussion were all behind the fieldhouse packing up their gear so that they would be marching back with tbe band at the end of the game instead of being at the football stadium packing up once the game was over and keeping the uniform staff up all night. At least you had the battery and the horns in the stands right at the start so that oughta count for something

Isn't it the field crew's responsibility to do that stuff? They should be the ones packing up, leaving the band in the stands.

I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I was in them last night.
