Poke the Opposing QB?

Just noticed that a friend of mine at UVa was in a Facebook group where they're attempting to flood the opposing team's QB with Facebook pokes for the week leading up to the game. They're hoping it will give them some sort of slight advantage.

I say it sounds like fun. So how many FlameFans are on Facebook? And how long will it take us to organize "Poke the Opposing Quarterback (Liberty Chapter)"?

That is a unique idea. It was bound to happen I suppose, although I don't know how much of an advantage it really gives them. :)

It's just silly enough to interest me. I'm in.

I heard of a story where some fans of team A (I can't remember the name) found that the star basketball player on team B had a MySpace page. So, some smart-alek's from team A decided to create a fake Myspace profile and posed as an attractive female who wanted to hook up with star basketball player on team B.

Long story short, smart-alek's from team A harassed star player from team B during the game... and star player from team B missed some crucial free throws, allowing team A to win.

We'll look to you to be the preeminent source of maturity from here on out, then.

For the record, this was started at Arizona and has spread out to quite a few of the FBS schools now. 1000+ pokes in a week is usually the goal.

Childish. Pfffft.

I heard a member of FlameFans did that to a school via Facebook last year. Except it was done during football, not basketball.

if he's on myspace, he deserves to be harassed for that very reason alone.

Who would be that stupid? Who would take that much time to pull of something like that?

As for the poke thing, we had people do it last year during football and basketball. I don't like it because I think it's pointless, not unoriginal.

It's only pointless if it doesn't work. If it's done enough to be annoying, it's just one more tiny distraction. Plus, it's something that's easy to get everyone involved in.

It was just a thought. I wouldn't want to be childish anyway.

I don't think it's childish. If you get enough, it's great. It's getting enough that's the problem.

Consider Corey Russell poked from Houston. I'm not quite sure what significance this has but if you guys say you need numbers then I'm all for helping.

Is that who we're poking?
When?

Yeah, he's the quarterback for Tusculum. The idea is to do it before the game ... Furman is apparently all over Presbyterian's QB right now.

i dont understand why these players dont set it so that their facebook cant show up in searches from outside networks. im pretty sure i can set up my facebook so that if someone from Liberty wanted to find me on the Lynchburg network, they wouldnt be able to search my name and find me.

They don't do it for the same reason that thousands of people put all of their personal info on Facebook with no privacy settings at all. They've jumped on a bandwagon without realizing where it could take them.

if the starting QB is Russel, then why cant we all just make giant credit cards out of card board, and taunt him to steal them, i think this would be way more effective. i have a three by five foot master card raring to go........... any one else in........... the only thing is that we would have to be setting on the front row, the only way he would see the cards and hear the taunting..............

Already done.

Visa card.

MasterCard.

"Thou Shalt Not Steal" sign.

Possibly another.

You may want to rethink - that is not particulary funny or clever...

That might not cast Liberty University in the right light.....

It's funny as crap. Kid shouldn't have gotten in trouble. You do something stupid, I'm taunting you for it, I don't care who you are.
