I know it's been a while since our last look at one of our positions, but I've been on vacation 8) .

Anyways, here's a break down on our defensive backfield:

Safety:
Pat Dickerson R-Sr. 5-10 195
Ryan Greiser Jr. 6-1 205

Ryan Best Sr. 5-11 190
Chris Rocco So. 5-10 190

Cornerback:
Donald Manns So. 5-10 180
Patrick Calvary Jr. 5-9 180

Kent Hicks R-Jr. 6-2 200
Pierre Penn Sr. 5-11 195
Tim Torrence So. 5-8 165
Chuck Duffey R-So. 6-0 190

Al Bailey Fr. 5-9 185
Jonathan Brummel Sr. 5-8 175
Larry Claiborne Fr. 6-1 182
Ron Gerondale Sr. 6-1 190
LaRandale Lee Fr. 5-11 180
Mannie Willis R-So. 5-10 200

It shall be interesting to see the progress of our secondary this year. With Best and Hicks we have 2 guys who have some experience and give us much needed depth immediately. I expect this group to take a good step forward in their progress from last year. We really are legitimately 2 deep at each position without much of a dropoff with the 2nd guy. That's the strength of this unit-depth.

Hicks has already moved into a starting role at CB.

So if he is in who is out?

Donald Manns is out. Tim Torrence is on injured reserve at the moment and will probably miss the first 2 games of the season according to the last I heard.

Manns.

Hicks and Calvary look to be the starters now.

Thanks guys. I've heard alot of the receivers speak about Hicks and I was surprised to see that Manns was still listed ahead of him. No doubt Manns will still see plenty of time. I guess he will be our nickel back now.

Torrence has been practicing, albeit with a red jersey so he doesn't take hits.
