Nice to see that Brock is doing okay in practice.
I would have said that the defensive line would be the weakness of the team (On paper) but someone who knows more about the program than me and is down there at practice said otherwise but I hope that he is right and I am wrong. It is the only position that is loosing starters from last year and where we didn't get a plug-in transfer since the Chris Johnson deal didn't go through. You look at the position, we loose Jason Horn, our best D-Lineman if not for the injury and a very capable backup in Tyler Turner and then Chris Renick. You insert Kevin Richard, who started on the aweful team we had 2 years ago and didn't have really good stats but he was a redshirt freshman. He was a backup last year but only made 8 tackles. I think that he is a walkon, so that would tend to downgrade him a little, but the coaches are saying he is much improved according to the audios I have been listening to. My question is is he really that improved and not some coach just tootin his horn since he is a local kid. As far as the so called "plug-in transfers, if our program was where it should be as far as performance we would not need that many transfers coming in but until we get there with the better recruiting and such we depend on them very much.
The kicker thing I think is solved with Greenbaum. As far as QB is concerned, I think that Brock Smith has potential and would think that he would not join the ranks of QB failures such as Gus Condon, Brock Farrell, Christian Newsome, Paul Troth, and JK Scott, and others. Maybe he could be the next Robbie Justino, Paul Johnson, or Antwan Chiles for us this year.
