THE OFFICIAL FLAMEFANS.COM TAILGATE THREAD 2007!

since we have decided on a spot for this year, now comes the preparation. in an effort to make things easier this year, i am using sly's suggestion that a $5 cover per game be charged to cover the costs/time for doing this. GMTM and i will handle the purchasing of food/drink/condiments using my sam's club membership and the menus would consist of:

hamburgers
hot dogs
chicken
brats
chips
dessert
drinks(sam's club brands) and water

if you are wanting something else, feel free to bring it, but the charge would still exist. the basic condiments would be available(ketchup, mustard, mayo, napkins, plates, forks/knives, regular buns). if you are wanting something more specialized in regards to condiments, bring it. this group is too large to cater just to just one person. obviously the whole same deal is to keep costs down.

i also realize that some attending are college students and money may be tight, but this is a small cost. if anyone has a problem with this speak to me privately.

in regards to games, the hillbilly golf game is available, and i believe the cornhole game is available too, the question would be where?? SJ, i am asking for your assistance on where to have this but it may have to be across the lot in the grassy area bordering 460.

flamefans.com t-shirts will also be available as i have some left from the original shipment, and i will also bring my canopy from the spring game.

if you have any ideas or thoughts, please post them and we can discuss it. thanks.

**if you want to contribute more, that is appreciated too.

sounds like a good plan to me....I think I spent more the 5 bucks for the spring game just bringing chips and sodas so this is a good deal for everybody I think

I already googled you and know where you live.

You oughta change the color of those shutters, and you need to mow your lawn.

the lawn guy came by today. :D

That guy needs to come by my house.

Madmat said he'd have Cornhole at his place. I don't think we have one for ours. I'll have a tv and PS2 with NCAA 08 and both versions of Guitar Hero. I think we'll be set with the hillbilly golf and the PS2.

Now, the big question, what time do we plan on starting?

have a plan in place for the games SJ. if we are going to do this, we do it right. i would say 1 or 2 pm.

it has been suggested that we have a sidepot for those who may not be able to afford it. it is a valid point and good idea. i urge any alum who cannot make it to the games to support the tailgates financially. $30 for six games is a good deal IMO, but if any alum, friend of flamefans.com, or anyone else want to donate, please PM me.

Hillbilly Golf and the PS2 will be our games. I think that will be more than enough.

i realize that. im talking about a spot to play.

Oh, my bad. The spot by 460 where you said is perfect. It'd be a small walk from the food but we wouldn't have to worry about hitting anyone or anything like that.

very good. sounds like a plan.

we will also have two grilles, mine and GMTM's. i would also like to have some volunteer to help clean up afterwards.

Smoothie, you just had post 100,000. Congratulations on that.

I've got a grill/cooler (the one from Thermos that goes together for camping) if we need it.

food suggestion: sandwiches. you could make them the "special of the week/game" and have a different type of sandwich for each game.

by SuperJon
You can put burgers, chicken, or hot dogs on bread and call em sandwiches.

Smoothy, for rich faculty like Fumble and me, can we pay you up front for the whole season?

5 bucks X number of home games = (what's the total?)

Smoothy, I want a FF T-shirt, too: XL

$30 for the entire season.

Speak for yourself...
...I'm just a lowly Asst. Prof without the terminal degree...but even with that I can afford $30 for the season.

Looks good, I will bring my money for the year on Sep 1. I also have a cooler if we need it. Smooth, if you need any help picking stuff up just let me know.

For the time to start:

For 7:00 pm games, we should probably get set up around 11:00 and people can come by whenever.
For early afternoon games, we should start as soon as someone local wants to get there. Maybe even have some breakfast.
