Countdown to Kickoff: Flames Scrimmage on New Grass Practice Field

For the first time during this training camp, the Flames offensive and defensive units “officially” squared off on the gridiron with the first of five scheduled scrimmages during training camp.

For the second-straight day, Liberty braved nearly 100-degree temperatures during the two-plus hour practice session, accounting for the eighth practice during the August camp.

I noticed that too about Hodges. I woundn't think that he would be the QB. Coach Rocco seemed very unhappy about yesterday's performance but maybe it was a way of getting them fired up or maybe it was a lack of effort thing or the heat took its toll.

It was Spencer Landis, our #2 QB. Spencer Hodges isn't mentioned in the entire article.

Umm, 70 plays and there was only 1 negative-yardage stop for the defense? Maybe the offense is just that good, or...

Remember, while they're hitting, they're also not going full-speed tackling. They go "full speed thud" meaning they block, hit, and all that, but don't tackle to the ground. A lot of those big hits are the ones that cause lost yardage.

Good point. Remember, my experience with football practice is related to whatever I saw while running circles around the school campus during cross country practice. (Unless it was raining. Then, our football team practiced in the gym.)
