Along with the offer from Old Dominion, Nichols is being courted by Akron, Temple, Norfolk State, Liberty and Delaware the most as each of those schools have offered him as well.
"I've got offers from Norfolk State, Akron, Delaware, Old Dominion, Richmond, Temple, James Madison and Liberty," he said. "Right now I would say I give the advantage to JMU because I know a couple people who play up there. I also like ODU since they are right around the corner."
A variety of major college programs are at least considering offering Nichols.
"North Carolina State, ECU, Connecticut, North Carolina and Boston College have been in touch," he said. "They basically told me it depends on how I play in our first games. If I do well I should receive bigger interest.
"If those schools offer, that would change my recruiting a lot. I think the first ACC school that does I'd give a verbal to and go check it out. I'm waiting on a high D-I offer."

ironic that he speaks of taking the first ACC offer that comes to him- then mentions "high D-I"

Norfolk (Va.) Maury cornerback Ricky Nichols made his decision over the weekend. The 5-foot-10, 169-pounder elected to stay closer to home over a couple of Division I offers.
"I committed last Saturday to Old Dominion," he said. "The location was a big part of it. It close to home, my sister goes there and the coaches showed me a lot of love.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes ODU to build a solid program. Sounds like they are already starting to get some good recruits. That just gives us 1 more team to schedule in the state.
