Teams that have Offered

And here is a July 11th update:
Robinson has received one offer from Liberty, but is being recruited very hard by ASU and Elon. Robinson said if it doesn't work out at a big ACC school, he wouldn't have any problem attending one of those three schools. Of those three, it appears App State is at the top of his list.

Would you rather win a national championship or play for a squad that has a history of bad losses and attend a school with a "strict" rulebook?

At that age, the priorities are different.

What's wrong with App State? It's a great school. Not everyone's going to want to play here.

I'll be honest, at some point Appy needs to ditch the name. To most of America it sounds like a punchline. Yeah, I know its in the sacred UNC system. But come on. And for the record I grew up in the Appalachian range but you'd have a hard time getting me to admit that over here in Texas.

What's wrong with the name Appalachian State?

And as for the "much of America" line, I think that's just you.

I've heard plenty of schools get made fun of for their name, App's never been one of em, unless you figure "Appy St" is making fun of them.

To snobs, the term "Appalachian" indicates that you're a "hillbilly", which they can't take seriously.

I'm fine with it just the way it is.

um, I believe it would be the connotation of the word Appalachian

(Sister-momma)

and yes, I'm aware the range runs thru PA as well, but up here you don't associate it with very pale people w/ big eyes and ears, sitting on porches in rocking chairs, wearing overalls and straw hats but no shoes.

Snobs being most of America that doesn't reside near the Appalachian range. While Appy's reputation is just fine in their region, nationally the name generates a chuckle from most folks. That's not a good thing if you have it on your resume.

And the funny thing is, while "the rest of America" laughs at the name, 90% of them can't pronounce the name of the school.

And if people just went by the names of colleges, and didn't look anything up, then everyone would think Coastal Carolina is a community college in Jacksonville, NC. They'd think we're little Liberty Baptist College. They'd think a school like Presbyterian was much more religious than they actually are. They'd think Charleston Southern was on the southern end of Charleston and not located in North Charleston. They'd think Thomas Road Baptist Church was on Thomas Road. I can go on, but I think you get the point.

Anybody north of Culpepper, VA mispronounces the name. The second "a" is a short a (as in "apple") not a long "a" as in "ape".

I'm pretty sure that Freshman football players can gain more than 15 with our facilities and coaches

The Freshman 15 is just a starting point, JDUB; the coaches and facilities can take it from there. :)

Rivals Appy Writer wrote:"Right now my only offers are still from Liberty and Presbyterian," Robinson said. "I would say that Furman, N.C. State and Elon are recruiting me the most. I get mail or talk to them about every week.

"Duke and Wake Forest were recruiting me but they aren't anymore. Appalachian State is still recruiting me, but not heavily. I get mail from them every week or every other week. That's about it right now."

With such a diverse group of programs keeping an eye on the senior, Robinson says the status or prestige of the school will hold little value when he comes to his final decision.

"The main thing for me is I don't want to go to a big school and not play until my senior year. I don't want to just go to a big school for the sake of being at a bigger program.

"I want to go somewhere that I feel like I can play early in my career and be able to help the team more than just my senior year. With the schools I'm being recruited by right now, I feel like I have a chance to play at all of them.

so did we offer and then walk away? That doesn't really sound like good recruiting tactics.
