Looking at our roster for the fall, I'm counting at least over 30 NEW players (true freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and DIA & DIAA transfers):

Which NEW player do you think will have the biggest impact or make the biggest contribution to our team this year?

VINCE REDD. his speed, quickness, and size will help him be a big time player in the big south. the roster says that he is 6'6, but i thought he was at least 6'7

I would go with Vince Redd but any of the 5 transfers on the roster right now have the capabilities of making it big considering the teams we are playing this year. Augsberry, Hicks, Greenbaum, or Best all have valuable playing time in the ACC so them steping down to this level would be a plus. I would say that Terry Adams would be our top freshman coming in. From what I hear this guy is a big time player and should be our top backup Linebacker and should challenge for a staring role.

With Greenbaum and Best, remember that they weren't starters at UVA. They're just guys who love playing football and want one more year. They weren't Vince Redd/Rashad Jennings impact players..

From afar I would have to agree that Vince Redd is the logical choice as the biggest impact newcomer. As far as the Freshmen though, it is hard to believe that there are any better than the two from Florida. I saw Spencer Hodges just before he left and he is 6'5" 308 and looks skinny. He is in awesome shape. Not many 300lb OL look cut and he does. I know that the OL is veteran and good and Spencer said he knew that as well, but he is ready, willing and able to contribute if called upon or redshirt if that is what the coaching staff feels is best. I also think the Connolly kid will play early, if nothing else on special teams. He is big, fast and athletic. Very good AAU BB player growing up. Both of these guys had plenty of BCS school offers and for differing reasons signed with Liberty. They became good friends while on an official vist to Kansas the same weekend.

I would think that Connolly and Hodges would redshirt. As of now we are pretty deep at OL and LB with 3 starting seniors at those positions and Coach Rocco does not like to play true freshmen unless the team is thin at the position as in last year with the DB's.

I think the real question here should be-- "When does practice start, and who's going to report back to the board on how the guys are looking?"

I believe I saw somewhere that practice started on the 6th of August. I may be wrong though.
