Stadium Screens?

Does anyone know if we'd have a shot of using the screens from Commencement for football games next year?

With all of the other improvements it would be amazing to rent these things for each of our games next year.

Those screens were simply using a signal from TRBC at the funeral and a one camera setup I believe for graduation. For us to have practical use of those screens for football we would have to have a some type of production unit and cameras set up. That may be in the works as has been hinted by Barber recently. Down here in Texas, its a rare high school stadium of any size that doesn't have a jumbotron of some type.

Its just a matter of somebody writing a check to make it happen. My checking account is a shade low to cover the costs.

I recall a while back that we had a pickup truck that roamed the sidelines with a guy on the back using a camera. I think it was when we aired the games locally. I'd imagine we'd just use the same sort of feed and run it to the screens. I can't imagine the check would need to be too big. Sly.. you could always lead the way on this campaign with a big phat contribution... :)

I'd love to lead the way of the telecast, but that's for another day.

To be honest, I have no idea what the school pays to rent those screens.

you know- I'd about give my left *semi-crude reference deleted* for ONE comment that didn't include how something is already being used by high school kids down there in cow country

They're already talking about close-circuit tv for the luxury boxes anyways.

You mean like steroids? Oh, wait...

Yeah you better wait because Texas is now the only state in the nation testing for 'roids.

But my intention was not turn this into a Lone Star thread. It just seems there is someone on the board fixated on the Texan references. Perhaps he doth protest to much. 8)

Texas this, Texas that...blah blah blah...we all know that Texans believe (mistakenly) that Texas is superior to every other state. We don't need to be reminded :P .

Here's to hoping that a rich oil man or rancher from the Lone Star State buys us a Texas-sized jumbo screen before the first football game next year. Rocco coached at UT-Austin from '94-'97, so maybe he still has some contacts down there with some deep pockets; also, we have 2 players on our current team from Texas--Oehlschlaeger & Lisco--so maybe they have some family or friends who could donate a Texas-sized screen for us.

The stadium holds 12000 people....why the heck do we even need a waste of money like a jumbotron. The $$ would be better spent on facility improvements for baseball...like LIGHTS.

maybe if they had lights & people who worked during the day could go to night games. They would be nice though for football season. Maybe LU could have an EA Sports NCAA FOOTBALL tourney and championship played on those screens!!

That would be awesome.

Quite frankly, I'm sure both lights and a video board are in the works.

Yep...someone donated the $$$ for baseball lights...now we just need people to donate money for the jumbotron for football and a new tennis facility.

Because jumbotrons are a big-time moneymaker for athletics departments as well as huge for recruiting. Duh.

As of last Monday he's undecided if he's going to play or not. Thats all I'm going to say.
