Having Coastal Higher than us is a joke!! They are not good enough to line the field for us when we run out.
I can't wait to destroy them this year. These coaches and press that vote, must not do any research and do it on name recognition only. We are a top 20 team - right now and a top 10 by the end of the year.

I'm ok with rampant optimism.

85% Truth. 10% Sarcasm. 5% Just wanted to start a good discussion.
I do believe we are better than Coastal. I believe we will be very competitive this year.

it's a pre-season poll

The thing that I think a lot of people overlook in comparing us to Coastal is that although their record overall was much better last year, we came within a hair (and a lame call) of beating them on their home field. That, along with the number of key players they lose and that we have back IMHO gives us good cause for optimism that this will be our year.

Guys, the AGS poll is completely fan-based. The voters are the members of the AGS forum. You know, Homer and his good buddy, Homer Jr. And it's a pre-season poll conducted in May.

The only thing this poll represents is what kind of name you have. It gives people something to talk about over the course of the summer.
Right now we don't deserve to be ranked. We had a 6-5 record last year. Let's prove something on the field before we claim we're a top 20 team. We can believe that, but until we prove it, it doesn't hold much weight.

what I dont understand is how only a few teams got #1 votes. I would think that a superhomer would vote his own team #1. I'm very surprised High Point didn't get a first place vote.

Clearly panfan01 doesn't have a vote yet .. unlike a number of FlameFans (you know who you are).
As silly as a poll in May clearly is, it does at least give us something to talk about until caps start later this summer. For that I can allow some frivolity in my life.

You can believe that if you want, Ralph, but I question the accuracy and/or relevancy of
any pre-season poll, particularly one taken 3 months prior to the start of training camp. And I freely admit to being a homer. Proud of it, in fact.
