Falwell, who died Tuesday at the age of 73, frequently showed up at LU sporting events to root on the Flames.

JB had a meeting with the entire athletic department this morning and, basically, hammered that point home. Nothing changes, no slowing down, no backing off. Only going harder.

I am so glad to hear the athletic program is going to keep things moving.

To be honest with you guys, the main reason for me choosing Liberty was because of Falwell's vision of Liberty athletics. I wanted to go to a school that loved and supported sports like I do. I wanted to be able to I see my school play on national TV and boast (a little bit) to my friends and family. That day will come in God's timing!

Make no bones about it, Jerry is going to be missed. However, I feel that God will not make Fallwell's vision go astray and will lead Liberty to an elite Division 1 school.

I found JB's statement to be compelling also. They sound like the words of a true leader, which is what we need right now. More and more I can see that a number of things have fallen into place in just the past few years to prepare the ministry and the university for Jerry's homegoing. JB being on board is one of the pieces to the puzzle.

Some of you know that I teach corporate executives how to communicate in crisis situations. One of the biggest things we've added to curriculum in recent years is the element of resolve after Giuliani showed how effective it could be after 9/11. Barber's comments are a terrific example of how you can take something that would knock the wind out of most people's sails and turn it into positive motivation. I'm liking JB more by the moment.
